The England national football team has represented England in international football since the first international match in 1872. The men's FIFA World Ranking is a ranking system for men's national teams in association football, currently led by Belgium. The teams of the men's member nations of FIFA, football's world governing body, are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest. The rankings were introduced in December 1992, and eight teams have held the top position, of which Brazil have spent the longest ranked first.
The Cameroon national football team, represents Cameroon in men's international football and It is controlled by the Fédération Camerounaise de Football. The team has qualified seven times for the FIFA World Cup, more than any other African team. However, the team has only made it once out of the group stage. They were the first African team to reach the quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup in 1990, losing to England in extra time. They have also won five Africa Cup of Nations and Olympic gold in 2000. The team represents Cameroon both in FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The 4 × 100 metres relay or sprint relay is an athletics track event run in lanes over one lap of the track with four runners completing 100 metres each. The first runners must begin in the same stagger as for the individual 400 m race. A relay baton is carried by each runner. Prior to 2018, the baton had to be passed within a 20 m changeover box, preceded by a 10-metre acceleration zone. With a rule change effective November 1, 2017 that zone was modified to include the acceleration zone as part of the passing zone, making the entire zone 30 metres in length. The outgoing runner cannot touch the baton until it has entered the zone, and the incoming runner cannot touch the baton after it has left the zone. The zone is usually marked in yellow, frequently using lines, triangles or chevrons. While the rule book specifies the exact positioning of the marks, the colors and style are only "recommended". While most legacy tracks will still have the older markings, the rule change still uses existing marks. Not all governing body jurisdictions have adopted the rule change.
The 4 × 400 metres relay or long relay is an athletics track event in which teams consist of four runners who each complete 400 metres or one lap. It is traditionally the final event of a track meet. At top class events, the first 500 metres is run in lanes. Start lines are thus staggered over a greater distance than in an individual 400 metres race; the runners then typically move to the inside of the track. The slightly longer 4 × 440 yards relay was a formerly run British and American event, until metrication was completed in the 1970s.

The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately 15⁄16 miles.
Michael Fred Phelps II is an American former competitive swimmer. He is the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time with a total of 28 medals. Phelps also holds the all-time records for Olympic gold medals (23), Olympic gold medals in individual events (13), and Olympic medals in individual events (16). When Phelps won eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games, he broke fellow American swimmer Mark Spitz's 1972 record of seven first-place finishes at any single Olympic Games. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Phelps already tied the record of eight medals of any color at a single Games by winning six gold and two bronze medals. Daniil Medvedev defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4 to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2021 US Open. Medvedev only dropped one set en route to the title. It was Medvedev's first Major title, making him the third Russian man, after Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Marat Safin, to win a major singles title, and was the first such title since Safin won the 2005 Australian Open. Furthermore, this was the second consecutive year in which the men's singles title at the US Open was not won by one of the Big Three players. With Djokovic and Medvedev both advancing to the final, this was the first time since 2015 that the top 2 seeds contested the championship match. By reaching the final, Djokovic also tied Roger Federer's record of 31 major men's singles finals reached.
Emma Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez in the final, 6–4, 6–3, to win the Women's Singles tennis title at the 2021 US Open. She became the first qualifier in history, male or female, to reach a major final, and win a major title, and the first singles qualifier to ever reach the semifinals at the US Open. She became the first female player since Venus Williams in 1997 to reach the US Open final in her debut appearance. She became the first British woman to win a singles major since Virginia Wade at the 1977 Wimbledon Championships. Ranked No. 150 in the world, Raducanu became the lowest ranked player to win a major since Kim Clijsters won the 2009 US Open. Raducanu was also the youngest major champion since Maria Sharapova at the 2004 Wimbledon Championships. This marked the first all-teenage major final since Serena Williams defeated Martina Hingis at the 1999 US Open and the first women's singles major final in the Open Era to feature two unseeded players.

The 2020 Paralympics were the sixteenth Games to be held, a quadrennial competition open to athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities. The games were held in Tokyo, Japan from 24 August to 5 September 2021. There were 539 medal events.
