Rollin' In The Hay is an American alternative bluegrass band from Birmingham, Alabama. The group has self-released six CDs and also has created 15 nationally released instrumental tributes called the Pickin' On series. The band is listed in the Alabama Music Hall of Fame as "Music Achievers". [1]

History

Rollin' In The Hay was founded in 1993, [2] and first performed in 1994, [3] starting out in local clubs, including the War Eagle Supper Club in Auburn. [4] In 2001, they were a featured band on the Pickin' on Widespread Panic: A Bluegrass Tribute album, [5] and they also appeared in the 2002 followup Pickin' on Travis Tritt: A Tribute. [6]

The band continued to perform around the Southern states, [7] [8] while recording and self-releasing six albums. [1]

In 2012, after winning a band contest, [9] the Rollin' In The Hay performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival. [10]

The band performed at the 2015 Briar Patch Festival in Damascus. [11]

The Riverbend Festival, also called Riverbend, is a well-known annual music festival in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which was started in June 1982 as a five-night festival. The Volunteer Jam is a sporadically held concert series headlined by the Charlie Daniels Band, featuring a multitude of musical acts that perform onstage with the band. It was first held on October 4, 1974, at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Jammy Award is an awards show for bands - referred to as jam bands - and other artists associated with live, improvisational music, created by Dean Budnick and Peter Shapiro. The Jammys are sponsored by Relix magazine, Jambands.com, and Shapiro. The Jammy Awards returned in 2008 to the WAMU Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City after taking a one-year break.

Iron Horse is a bluegrass band from Killen, Alabama, US. They are known for performing and recording bluegrass cover versions of rock songs, particularly their bluegrass treatments of heavy metal songs popularized by Metallica. The band has two tracks on the tribute album Strummin' with the Devil: The Southern Side of Van Halen, which also features David Lee Roth, among other artists. They have recently been working on self-produced material and in October 2009 released an all-original Christmas project called "Small Town Christmas".

The songs' arrangements were constructed by bandleader Rick Carter. Unlike the previous Phish bluegrass tribute album Gone Phishin, this album features a number of rare songs, some of which were never released on a Phish studio album.

The Infamous Stringdusters are a progressive acoustic/bluegrass band. The band first emerged in 2006 with the limited release of a five-song extended play CD The Infamous Stringdusters, followed in 2007 by their first album Fork in the Road. The Atwood Music Festival, the longest running festival of its kind in the state of Mississippi, is an annual festival held near the banks of the Pearl River in Monticello, Mississippi on Memorial Day weekend in May. Originally called the Atwood Bluegrass Music Festival, the event was rebranded to feature a variety of different music styles. The Festival began as a joint effort by the Pearl River Basin Development District and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce in 1975 to promote the Atwood Water Park that had recently been completed by the Basin District.

Shenandoah Valley Music Festival is the longest running music festival in Virginia. It presents a concert series each summer that takes place mid-July through Labor Day weekend at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, Virginia. The Festival started in 1963 as a way of bringing symphonic music to the rural Shenandoah Valley. Symphonic music is still included in the series; other genres including bluegrass, country, folk, pop-rock, roots, and Americana are also presented. Rothman was a friend and colleague of Grateful Dead bandleader Jerry Garcia, and a member of the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band. He played bluegrass with Garcia and David Nelson as the Black Mountain Boys in 1964, and has played in 1964 with Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys, Earl Taylor, Red Allen, Jimmie Skinner, Larry Sparks, the Kentucky Colonels, Country Joe McDonald, Kathy Kallick and Clarence White, among other musicians. Deuces is an album by the Charlie Daniels Band. Released on October 9, 2007, it consists of duets with prominent rock, country and bluegrass artists, including covers of songs by Ray Charles and Bob Dylan. Guests on the album include Dolly Parton, Darius Rucker, Brenda Lee, Vince Gill, the Del McCoury Band, Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn and Gretchen Wilson. An expanded edition, entitled Duets was released on July 16, 2021, which includes 6 additional tracks, including a duet with Garth Brooks.

James "Barry" Waldrep is an American Bluegrass, Jam Band, Americana instrumentalist, songwriter, composer and record producer. Main instrument is acoustic guitar, but also plays electric guitar, mandolin and banjo. Waldrep co-founded the bluegrass/jam band Rollin' In The Hay in July 1993. The band was based in Birmingham, Alabama, and formed as a side project. Waldrep was also a full time member of the Birmingham band Telluride. Rollin' In The Hay soon became a full-time band touring the Jam Band circuit of festivals and college campuses across the country until May 2009. The band produced 7 CDs and performed over 300 dates per year for 16 years.

The Pearl Jam 2016 North America Tour was a concert tour by the American rock band Pearl Jam. The tour consisted of twenty-six shows in the United States and Canada, including appearances at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and the Bonnaroo Music Festival. This was the band's first tour following the Latin American Tour that finished in 2015.

Hot Country Knights is an American country music and parody music band formed by country music singer Dierks Bentley in 2015. The band is composed of Bentley and his own road band. Bentley portrays lead singer Douglas "Doug" Douglason, with the other members of his band performing under the names of Trevor Travis, Marty Ray "Rayro" Roburn, Terotej "Terry" Dvoraczekynski (fiddle), Barry Van Ricky, and Monte Montgomery (drums). The members of Bentley's road band have also fashioned fictitious backstories for their musical stage names. In 2020, Capitol Records Nashville, the label to which Bentley is signed, also signed Hot Country Knights. The band is intended to be a satirical tribute to country music of the 1990s. Variety described the band as "a full Spinal Tap-like musical-comedy act around the mullet-laden, '90s-spoofing conceit."
