The Roman Catholic Diocese of Pankshin (Latin : Pankshinen(sis)) is a diocese located in the city of Pankshin in the Ecclesiastical province of Jos in Nigeria.

On March 18, 2014 the Diocese of Pankshin was established from territory of the Archdiocese of Jos and the Diocese of Shendam. [1] [2]

Ignatius Ayau Kaigama is a Nigerian prelate of the Catholic Church. He was Archbishop of Jos from 2000 to 2019, when he became first Archbishop Coadjutor and then Archbishop of Abuja.

The Jos Province is one of the 14 ecclesiastical provinces of the Church of Nigeria. It was one of the original ten provinces created in 2002. It is divided in ten dioceses, 31 archdeaconries and 137 parishes. Their first Archbishop was Emmanuel Mani who was at that time the Bishop of Maiduguri. He served one term and handed over to Benjamin Kwashi (2008-2017) also the Bishop of Jos.). Archbishop Kwashi handed over to Archbishop Henry Ndukuba who served from 2017 to 2020. The current archbishop is Markus Ibrahim who is also the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Yola. On March 25, 2020, Archbishop Ndukuba took over as the Primate of All Nigeria.

2014 Jos bombings

On 20 May 2014, two bombs exploded in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, killing at least 118 people and injuring more than 56 others. The first bombing occurred in a marketplace, and the second near a bus station. Though no group or individual has claimed responsibility, the attacks have been attributed to Boko Haram.

Richard Gagnon Canadian bishop, Archbishop of Winnipeg

Richard Joseph Gagnon is a Canadian bishop of the Catholic Church. He is the Archbishop of Winnipeg, appointed to the position in 2014 after previously serving as the Bishop of Victoria. He has also served as President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) since September 2019. Gagnon attended high school and university in Greater Vancouver, before studying for the priesthood at the Pontifical Beda College in Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1983 and served in the Archdiocese of Vancouver as an assistant pastor and parish priest for two decades. He became vicar general of the archdiocese in 2002, and was consecrated as a bishop two years later. Gagnon has been noted for his work toward reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Victoria and Winnipeg. He is also noted for calling the first diocesan synod in the Archdiocese of Winnipeg.

Gregory Obinna Ochiagha was a Nigerian Roman Catholic bishop. He was the first Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orlu, a position he held until he retired in 2008 and handed over to Bishop Augustine T. Ukwuoma his successor.
