Roman Dirge (born Roman Elliot; April 29, 1972) is an American comic book writer, artist, and former magician. He is best known as the creator of the comic book series Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl .
Told by his art teachers that he would never make it as an artist due to his crude style, he quit art and became a full-time magician.[ citation needed ] After a few years, his passion for art overtook him and he created the comic Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl for Xenophobe magazine. The comic strips were later seen by Dan Vado, president of Slave Labor Graphics.
Dirge has also written books such as Something At The Window Is Scratching, The Monsters In My Tummy , The Cat With A Really Big Head: And One Other Story That Isn't As Good and has done work for The Haunted Mansion comics. He has over 75 tattoos.[ citation needed ]
On February 26, 2013, Dirge and his then girlfriend were injured in a hit-and-run accident in Hollywood, California, while crossing the street. One of Dirge's legs was severely injured and had to be rebuilt with a metal rod, but he was said to be in good spirits despite facing a long recovery. [1]
26 episodes of a Lenore Animation were created for Sony's website ScreenBlast, these are no longer available on Screenblast, but can now be seen on Dirge's site Spooky Land. [2] Roman Dirge wrote for his friend, and fellow Slave Labor Graphics artist Jhonen Vasquez's Invader ZIM , and on the back of the second Invader ZIM DVD it says "Made with 100% more Dirge" with a picture of him on it, Invader Zim style.
Dirge was in a band during high school named Of Worlds Long Dead.[ citation needed ]
Dirge provided original art for Scarling's tour posters in 2003.[ citation needed ]
Dirge provided the cover, booklet and CD art for the 2001 album Welt as well as the cover art for the 2018 album Tricks by ohGr. [3]
Jhonen C. Vasquez is an American cartoonist, animator, writer, producer, and director. He is best known for creating the comic book Johnny the Homicidal Maniac—along with its spin-off comics Squee!, Fillerbunny, and I Feel Sick—and the Nickelodeon animated series Invader Zim.
Johnny the Homicidal Maniac is the first comic book by Jhonen Vasquez. The series tells the story of a young man named Johnny “Nny” C. as he explores the psychological and possibly supernatural forces which compel him to commit a string of murders with which he always seems to get away. JtHM began as a comic strip in the 1990s, then ran under alternative comics publisher Slave Labor Graphics as a limited series of seven issues, later collected in the trade paperback Johnny the Homicidal Maniac: Director's Cut. The series produced three spin-offs: Squee!, I Feel Sick and Fillerbunny.
Mandrake the Magician is a syndicated newspaper comic strip, created by Lee Falk before he created The Phantom. Mandrake began publication on June 11, 1934. Phil Davis soon took over as the strip's illustrator, while Falk continued to script. The strip was distributed by King Features Syndicate.
I Feel Sick is a comic book created by artist Jhonen Vasquez, with colors by Rosearik Rikki Simons. Published in August 1999 through May 2000, it is a spin-off of Vasquez's comic book series Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. I Feel Sick revolves around Devi D, a graphic designer who must face the same supernatural and psychological forces that drove Johnny C. to lunacy.
Lenore, The Cute Little Dead Girl is a black comedy comic series created by Roman Dirge, inspired by the poem "Lenore" by Edgar Allan Poe. Lenore has appeared in several comic books by Dirge. From 1998 to 2007, she featured in her own series published by Slave Labor Graphics. Twenty-six flash-animated shorts were also produced for Sony's ScreenBlast website in 2002. In July 2009, a new comic series started, now published by Titan Books and called Lenore Volume II. Previous issues were made into colored edition trade paperback called Lenore Volume I, which is separated into three books.
Monster Fun was originally a weekly British comic strip magazine for children aged seven to twelve. Published by IPC Media, it ran for 73 issues in 1975–1976, when it merged with Buster. Haunted House is a 1982 adventure video game programmed by James Andreasen for the Atari Video Computer System and published by Atari. The player controls an avatar shaped like a pair of eyes who explores a mansion seeking out parts of an urn to return to the entrance. The game world is populated by roaming enemies including vampire bats, tarantulas, and a ghost. Haunted House was among the first games to use player-controlled scrolling between large portions of the visual space.

In October 2005, Slave Labor Graphics released a new bimonthly comic book series based on the classic Disneyland attraction, The Haunted Mansion. Each issue has roughly four or five separate stories, as well as a piece of the overarching story "Mystery of the Manse", which recounts the life of Master Gracey. Each issue, except for #3, features a cover by Roman Dirge.

The series centers on an extraterrestrial named Zim, from the planet Irk, and his mission is to conquer Earth and enslave the human race along with his malfunctioning robot servant GIR. He is antagonized by Dib, a young paranormal investigator who is determined to stop Zim from succeeding.
D. W. Frydendall is a comic book artist best known for his horror art. Born in Los Angeles he grew up in Arcadia, a suburb outside of Pasadena, California. At an early age he showed an aptitude at drawing creatures such as the Wolfman. In interviews he claims he was a "strange" child. D.W. was highly influenced by illustrator Harry Clarke's art in an illustrated book of Edgar Allan Poe's writings.

Rosearik Rikki Allen Simons is an American voice actor, writer, cartoonist, and animator. He is best known as the voice of GIR in the Nickelodeon animated series, Invader Zim. Simons has also written a number of novels and comic series, often working with his wife, Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simons.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus is a 2019 American animated science fiction comedy film directed by Hae Young Jung, Young Kyun Park, and Jhonen Vasquez and written by Vasquez. It is based on and is a continuation of the animated television series Invader Zim, which was created by Vasquez and originally aired on Nickelodeon from 2001 to 2002 and later Nicktoons in 2006. Richard Steven Horvitz, Rosearik Rikki Simons, Andy Berman, Melissa Fahn, Rodger Bumpass, Wally Wingert, Kevin McDonald, Vasquez, and Olivia d'Abo reprise their voice roles from the series. In the film, Zim discovers his almighty leaders never had any intention of coming to Earth and he loses confidence in himself for the first time in his life, which is the big break his human nemesis, Dib has been waiting for.
Muppets Haunted Mansion is a 2021 American comedy Halloween special based on the Disney properties The Muppets and The Haunted Mansion. It was released on October 8, 2021, via Disney+. It is the Muppets' first Halloween special. The plot stars Gonzo and Pepe as they face the challenge of staying in a haunted mansion for one night. It received generally positive reviews from critics.
