Roots and Shadows is an English-language Indian novel, written by Shashi Deshpande in 1983. [1]

Contents

The novel focuses on Indu's interactions with others in her large family and the manner in which this helps to resolve their future and her own personal crisis. [2]

The work has been widely analysed and criticized for its feminist [3] orientation. It has been a source for many thesis and papers on the role of women in society of today. [4] The work is widely appreciated for bringing out the joint family system in Indian society.

Bhimsen Joshi

Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi (; 4 February 1922 – 24 January 2011) was an Indian vocalist from Karnataka, in the Hindustani classical tradition. <i>Ijaazat</i> 1987 film directed by Gulzar

Ijaazat is an 1987 Indian Hindi musical romance film directed by Gulzar, based on a Bengali story, Jatugriha by Subodh Ghosh. Starring Rekha, Naseeruddin Shah and Anuradha Patel in leading roles, the film followed the story of couple who are separated and who accidentally meet in a railway station waiting room and discover some truths about their lives without each other. The film belongs to the art-house genre in India known as Parallel Cinema, and won two National Film Awards in the music category. The movie is based on the 1964 Bengali movie Jatugriha.

It premiered on 3 April 2017 on Star Plus and aired from Monday through Saturday during the Star Plus Dopahar (afternoon) programming block. <i>Vastupurush</i>

Vastupurush: The Guardian Spirit of the House is a 2002 Indian Marathi film directed by filmmaker duo Sumitra Bhave–Sunil Sukthankar and produced by National Film Development Corporation of India. It is about Bhaskar, who rises above his poor financial conditions and devotes himself to the poor people for his mother believes that their generations have been cursed by the Vastupurush for doing wrong to people of lower castes. The film won several awards on release including the Best Feature Film in Marathi at the 50th National Film Awards and eight awards at the 40th Maharashtra State Film Awards in 2003.

Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai was an Indian Hindi language coming of age romantic period drama television series produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions which was aired on Sony TV It stars Ashi Singh and Randeep Rai as Naina Agarwal and Sameer Maheshwari. Set in the 1990s and based on youngster's love story, it is inspired by the real-life love story of producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal.
