Rope is a 1953 British television play based on the stage play of the same name by Patrick Hamilton. It was the fourth time the play had been filmed for British television, and the third time Stephen Harrison had directed it.
The Manchester Evening News called it "taut... only the sound effects were suspect in a realistic production." [1]
The Evening Standard felt "it was that grand old actor Wonter who romped away... with all the honours" and the production "might even have been absurd on occasions but for the excellence of the acting all round." [2]
The Daily Herald felt Alan Wheatley gave "the performance of his life." [3]
