Rope is a 1947 British television play based on the play Rope by Patrick Hamilton. It was an early lead role for Dirk Bogarde. [1] [2]

Contents

It was directed by Stephen Harrison who wrote about Bogarde: "I think he has possibilities. Although he is rather inexperienced, he was good from the start in the more emotional scenes, and eventually sustained his performance consistently in the duller connecting links. He, too, was possibly too charming a type for the part of Granillo.” [3]

Harrison later directed the play for television again in 1950. [4]

Premise

Two Oxford undergraduates, Wyndham Brandon and Charles Granillo, murder a friend for the thrill of it.
