Career

Ross Kagan Marks directed Walking with Herb, [3] The Twilight of the Golds, [4] and Homage. [5] His credits are the Heart Outright, Fowl, Tarrant County, Showdown on Rio Road, Fluff, and Princess which ended up on the Academy Award live-action shorts. [6]

For The Twilight of the Golds, Marks assembled a cast including Brendan Fraser, Faye Dunaway, Rosie O' Donnell, Jennifer Beals, Jack Klugman, and Garry Marshall. [7] The film and Marks were nominated for awards. [8] Ross Marks's films have won awards at the Sundance Film Festival. [9] Walking with Herb marked Ross Marks's entry into faith-based filmmaking. Ross Marks works as a professor at New Mexico State University, and he is the founder of the Las Cruces International Film Festival, where he is also the executive director. [12]

Marks is married to Debra Medoff and is the father of three children. [13] His father-in-law was playwright Mark Medoff. [14] As of September 2023, Marks resides in Las Cruces, New Mexico. [15]

Mark Medoff was an American playwright, screenwriter, film and theatre director, actor, and professor. His play Children of a Lesser God received both the Tony Award and the Olivier Award. He was nominated for an Academy Award and a Writers Guild of America Best Adapted Screenplay Award for the film script of Children of a Lesser God and for a Cable ACE Award for his HBO Premiere movie, Apology. He also received an Obie Award for his play When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder? Medoff's feature film Refuge was released in 2010.

The White Sands International Film Festival (WSIFF) started in Alamogordo, New Mexico, as a week long event in March 2008 to showcases narrative and documentary films. The festival was created to support the work of Hispanic and New Mexican Filmmakers. The festival moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 2009.

The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine(BCOM) is a private, for-profit medical school. The main campus is located on the New Mexico State University (NMSU) campus in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and their second campus is located on the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) campus in Melbourne, Florida. The Twilight of the Golds is an American drama film directed by Ross Kagan Marks, based upon the play The Twilight of the Golds by Jonathan Tolins. The film was screened at the January 1997 Sundance Film Festival prior to its broadcast premiere on Showtime in March 1997. The cast includes Jennifer Beals, Brendan Fraser, Garry Marshall, Faye Dunaway and Jon Tenney. The film deals with the issue of fictional genetic testing, and asks the question – if testing could reveal the sexual orientation of your unborn child, and you knew he or she would be gay, would you abort?
