Ross Steele AM is an Australian author, academic and Francophile.
During his career he has held teaching positions at the "Paris-Sorbonne University, the University of New South Wales, Harvard University, and the University of Sydney". [1] He has published thirty-seven books in French and English on subjects including French culture, language and the teaching of French language.
Steele has received a number of awards including Member of the Order of Australia (2006), [2] Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur (1996), [3] [4] and Officier in the Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur in 2008. [5] [6]
Steele is mentioned in the closing credits of the 1985 film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome . [7] [ better source needed ]

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, commonly known as Mad Max 3, is a 1985 Australian post-apocalyptic dystopian action film directed by George Miller and George Ogilvie and written by Terry Hayes and Miller. It is the third installment in the Mad Max franchise. The film stars Mel Gibson and Tina Turner, and follows a lone roving warrior who is exiled into the desert. It was Gibson's last performance as "Mad Max" Rockatansky as of 2024.
Jean Léon Marie Delumeau was a French historian specializing in the history of the Catholic Church, and author of several books regarding the subject. He held the Chair of the History of Religious Mentalities (1975–1994) at the Collège de France and was a member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres.

She is the current chairperson of the Square Kilometre Array's governing body, SKAO Council. She was the first female president of the International Astronomical Union (2006-2009) and the first female director general of the European Southern Observatory (1999-2007).
Elizabeth Jane Zemiro is an Australian academic and author. She was awarded the Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Government in 2000. Zemiro is the mother of actor and television presenter Julia Zemiro.
