Rudolf Gurashi was an Albanian football player who played for SK Tirana during the 1930s, where he won the Kategoria superiore five times in seven years between 1930 and 1937. Aside from football, he was an avid cyclist, and in 1931 he travelled to France with the intention of taking part in the 1931 Tour de France, but was not selected for the race. According to a February 17, 1933, article in the French sports newspaper L'Auto, Gurashi had returned to Paris in 1931 aiming to participate in the Tour. He was not selected due to unknown performance. After returning to his hometown Tirana to promote the race, he wrote to L'Auto stating his determination to participate in 1933, noting that two other Albanians shared the same ambition. This was seen as part of a growing international interest in the Tour, with the newspaper remarking, "Soon, this race will be a small cycling League of Nations." [1] He would return to hometown Tirana to promote the sport. [2]
He was part of the SK Tirana team that won the inaugural football season in Albania, the 1930 Albanian National Championship. [3] He would go on to win the title five times in seven years between 1930 and 1937. [4]
