Rupesh Tillu

Rupesh Tillu (born 12 May 1981) is an Indian actor, director and filmmaker. [1] [2] [3] He is mostly known for his work in Right Here, Right Now (2003), Ship of Theseus (2012), Eggolution (2017), Ophelia (2018), Laakhon Mein Ek (2019) and Bhoot Police (2021). [4] [5] [6] He is also known for his expertise in physical theatre and clowning. [7] [8] [9]

Early life and education

He was born and brought up in Mumbai. He lived in Sweden for nine years. [10] Rupesh received MFA in physical comedy from The National School of Dramatic Arts, Sweden. [11]

Career

He started his career as an actor in 2003 with Right Here, Right Now, a film by Anand Gandhi. He played the lead role alongside Anuradha Chandan. In 2012, he played the role of Ajay in Ship of Theseus, a drama film produced by Sohum Shah. The film also featured Aida El-Kashef and Neeraj Kabi in lead roles, and was premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. [12] [13] In 2017, he directed Eggolution, a non-verbal short film. In the same year, he appeared in Boichek, a film by Santosh Sivan. [14]

In 2018, he played the role of Yorick in Ophelia, a historical romantic drama film directed by Claire McCarthy. The movie featured Daisy Ridley and Naomi Watts in lead roles. In the same year, he directed The Living Gods. [15] In 2019, he featured in the second season of Laakhon Mein Ek as Bhola, alongside Shweta Tripathi and Sandeep Mehta. [16] In 2021, he played the role of Vinod in Bhoot Police, starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez. [17]

Rupesh is known for his expertise in clowning and physical theatre. [18] He has been playing Madbeth since 2012. [19] [20] In 2020, he directed That's How We Feel. [21] [22] In 2022, he staged a physical comedy act ‘Madbeth’ in Hyderabad. [23] [24]
