Rupinder Singh Kooner (born 3 January 1980) is an Indian politician currently serving as the 16th Member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. He represents Karanpur and is a member of the Indian National Congress. [1]
The election for Karanpur seat was postponed due to the death of the Congress candidate and the then MLA Gurmeet Singh Koonar. The Congress has fielded Koonar's son,Rupinder Singh from the Karanpur seat in by-election which was held on 5 January 2024. The counting was held on 8 January and the Congress candidate Rupinder Singh Koonar defeated Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Surendra Pal Singh,then was a minister with over a margin of 11,283 votes. C. P. Joshi is an Indian politician and a five-time MLA from Nathdwara,Rajasthan. He was born in a Brahmin family in Nathdwara,Rajasthan and he is a member of the Indian National Congress. Gurmeet Singh Kooner was a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly representing the Karanpur constituency for the Indian National Congress (INC),which he won in the 2018 election. He previously represented the constituency following the Assembly elections of 1998,for the INC,and 2008,as an independent. Kooner died in New Delhi on 15 November 2023.
