The Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival, more commonly known as Rushes Soho Shorts Festival, is a yearly display of short films hosted by Rushes Postproduction. It has taken place every summer since 1999. What began as a small series of screenings at the Curzon Cinema in London's Soho area, has grown considerably since its inception.
A large number of recognizable names have both acted in films at the festival, and presented the festival itself. The former include David Tennant, Dita Von Teese, and Michael Sheen. The latter include Graham Norton, Joseph Fiennes, and Basement Jaxx.
Outside of its summer festival, Rushes Soho Shorts curates work for other festivals and events. [1] These programmes are often composed of work that has been submitted to previous Soho Shorts festivals.
In 2005, LoveFilm designated Soho Shorts as "one to look out for" [2] and other publications, including The Guardian and Little White Lies have been similarly positive. [3] [4]
Aardman Animations Limited is a British animation studio based in Bristol, England. It is known for films made using stop-motion and clay animation techniques, particularly those featuring its plasticine characters Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Morph. After some experimental computer-animated short films during the late 1990s, beginning with Owzat (1997), Aardman entered the computer animation market with Flushed Away (2006). Rupert James Hector Everett is an English actor, director and producer. Everett first came to public attention in 1981 when he was cast in Julian Mitchell's play and subsequent film Another Country (1984) as a gay pupil at an English public school in the 1930s; the role earned him his first BAFTA Award nomination. A short film is any motion picture that is short enough in running time not to be considered a feature film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits". In the United States, short films were generally termed short subjects from the 1920s into the 1970s when confined to two 35 mm reels or less, and featurettes for a film of three or four reels. "Short" was an abbreviation for either term.
Edgar Howard Wright is an English filmmaker. He is known for his fast-paced and kinetic, satirical genre films, which feature extensive utilisation of expressive popular music, Steadicam tracking shots, dolly zooms and a signature editing style that includes transitions, whip pans and wipes. He began making independent short films before making his first feature film A Fistful of Fingers in 1995. Wright created and directed the comedy series Asylum in 1996, written with David Walliams. After directing several other television shows, Wright directed the sitcom Spaced (1999–2001), which aired for two series and starred frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
Rushes Postproduction was a post-production and visual effects company based in London. Rushes closed down in December 2017.

Silence Is Golden is a 15-minute award-winning film written and directed by Chris Shepherd and produced by Maria Manton. Set in 1970s Britain, it tells the story of a 10-year-old boy's obsession with his seemingly simple-minded neighbour Dennis. The film mixes live action with various form of animation, including stop frame, drawn 2D. The complex mixture of styles enables Shepherd to show Billy's fantasies and inner thoughts on screen.
