The Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) is a government revenue collection agency established by the Parliament of Rwanda. The RRA is charged with enforcing, assessing, collecting, and accounting for the various taxes imposed in Rwanda. [1]
The law that created the Rwanda Revenue Authority was passed by the Rwandan Parliament in 1997, but the agency became operational in 1998. [1] RRA is supervised by the Rwanda Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. [1]
RRA started in 1998, with 200 employees who needed training and equipping with skills and technology to perform their duties. An organizational structure had to be established and streamlined into departments and a coherent chain of command. [1] As of May 2017 the tax body was expected to collect at least RWF:1 trillion (approx. US$1,215,000,000), for the first time in the financial year ending in June 2017. At that time, the agency maintained 168,346 taxpayers. [2]
Non compliance by large corporate clients, [3] and the sourcing and retention of qualified experienced staff, remain challenges for the tax agency. [4]
The chief executive officer of the organization is the Commissioner General, currently Niwenshuti Ronald, appointed by the President of Rwanda, with the consent of the Senate, for a term of five years, renewable once. The Commissioner General is assisted by a Deputy Commissioner General. [5]
The agency has two service departments, each headed by a commissioner: (1) the Customs Services Department and (2) the Domestic Taxes Department. [6]
There are eleven supportive departments / divisions , each headed by either a Commissioner or a Assistant Commissioner:

Kigali is the capital and largest city of Rwanda. It is near the nation's geographic centre in a region of rolling hills, with a series of valleys and ridges joined by steep slopes. As a primate city, Kigali is a relatively new city. It has been Rwanda's economic, cultural, and transport hub since it was founded as an administrative outpost in 1907, and became the capital of the country at independence in 1962, shifting focus away from Huye.

His Majesty's Revenue and Customs is a non-ministerial department of the UK Government responsible for the collection of taxes, the payment of some forms of state support, the administration of other regulatory regimes including the national minimum wage and the issuance of national insurance numbers. HMRC was formed by the merger of the Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise, which took effect on 18 April 2005. The department's logo is the Tudor Crown enclosed within a circle.
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is an agency of the Government of Kenya that is responsible for the assessment, collection and accounting of all revenues that are due to the government in accordance with the laws of Kenya.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) is an office in the United States Federal government. It was established in January 1999 in accordance with the Internal Revenue Service Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 (RRA 98) to provide independent oversight of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) activities. As mandated by RRA 98, TIGTA assumed most of the responsibilities of the IRS' former Inspection Service.

The Revenue Commissioners, commonly called Revenue, is the Irish Government agency responsible for customs, excise, taxation and related matters. Though Revenue can trace itself back to predecessors, the current organisation was created for the independent Irish Free State on 21 February 1923 by the Revenue Commissioners Order 1923 which established the Revenue Commissioners to carry out the functions that the Commissioners of Inland Revenue and the Commissioners of Customs and Excise had carried out in the Free State prior to independence. The North Carolina Department of Revenue was created in 1921 by the North Carolina General Assembly. The department is headed by a Secretary that is appointed by the Governor. The secretary is a member of the North Carolina Cabinet. Currently, the department is responsible for administering the collection of the North Carolina state income tax, gasoline tax, sales tax, beverage tax, and inheritance tax.
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) is the revenue service and a government agency of the Malawi government. Malawi Revenue Authority is responsible for collecting taxes. The duties of the Malawi Revenue Authority include providing tax assistance to taxpayers and pursuing and resolving instances of erroneous or fraudulent tax filings.
