Ryknield Motor Company

The Ryknield Motor Company, originally established as the Ryknield Engine Company was a short-lived motor car manufacturer of the early twentieth century. Based in Burton-upon-Trent in England, the company was formed by a number of prominent business men in February 1902. Ernest E. Baguley, who had apprenticed in the rail industry with Hawthorn Leslie and Company, and then W. G. Bagnall, saw the potential of the motor car, and in 1901, Baguley designed a steam-engine for a motor car. His employer at the time, Bagnalls, were not interested in the concept, so he left the company and joined the Ryknield Engine Company as manager in November 1902.

R. & W. Hawthorn Leslie and Company, Limited, usually referred to as Hawthorn Leslie, was a shipbuilder and locomotive manufacturer. The company was founded on Tyneside in 1886 and ceased building ships in 1982.

W. G. Bagnall British locomotive manufacturer, active 1875–1962

W. G. Bagnall was a locomotive manufacturer from Stafford, England which was founded in 1875 and operated until it was taken over in 1962 by English Electric.

The company established a factory on Shobnall Road in Burton, and they started producing cars in 1903, offering both petrol and steam engines as options. The company primarily targeted the cheaper end of the market, and produced a 10 horsepower car, with options either as a four-seater, or a light delivery van. This was later supplemented with 15 and 20 horsepower models, [1] and in 1905 one of the 15 horsepower cars was entered into the 1905 International Tourist Trophy by Arthur Clay, and was one of only eighteen cars to complete the endurance race. [2] In late 1905, the company endured financial difficulties, and was eventually sold to Wilfred Clay, who had set up the Ryknield Motor Company in early 1906. In contrast to the cars that had previously been produced, the new company targeted the commercial market. The connections of the Clay family, along with the booming brewery business in Burton-upon-Trent, gave the company a good market for their trucks. They were able to adapt the chassis of the 10 horsepower car to produce a small, one ton, truck, while a larger, 8 litre, 35 horsepower model was manufactured for longer distance journeys. [1] They manufactured an even bigger truck, with a 9.8 litre engine, and trialled a motor bus. However, the company was not particularly successful, and in mid-1910, the company was placed in receivership, and was sold to Baguley Cars, which had both Wilfred Clay and Ernest Baguley on its board, the latter as managing director. 1905 International Tourist Trophy

The 1905 International Tourist Trophy was an automobile motor race held on 14 September 1905 on closed public roads along the Highroads Course on the Isle of Man. It was organised by the Automobile Club of Great Britain and Ireland, and was the first time that what became known as the RAC Tourist Trophy was awarded. The race lasted over six hours and was won by John Napier, driving an Arrol-Johnston. Percy Northey finished second in a Rolls-Royce, while the Vinot-Deguingand driver Norman Littlejohn was third.

Receiverships are also a remedy of last resort in litigation involving the conduct of executive agencies that fail to comply with constitutional or statutory obligations to populations that rely on those agencies for their basic human rights.

Baguley Cars Ltd was a British engineering company, specializing in railway locomotives. They were founded in 1911 by Ernest E. Baguley and were acquired by Baguley-Drewry in 1962.

Sunbeam Motor Car Company Limited was a British motor car manufacturer with its works at Moorfields in Blakenhall, a suburb of Wolverhampton in the county of Staffordshire, now West Midlands. Its Sunbeam name had been registered by John Marston in 1888 for his bicycle manufacturing business. Sunbeam motor car manufacture began in 1901. The motor business was sold to a newly incorporated Sunbeam Motor Car Company Limited in 1905 to separate it from Marston's pedal bicycle business; Sunbeam motorcycles were not made until 1912.

Delahaye company

Delahaye automobile was an automotive manufacturing company founded by Émile Delahaye in 1894, in Tours, France, his home town. His first cars were belt-driven, with single- or twin-cylinder engines mounted at the rear. His Type One was an instant success, and he urgently needed investment capital and a larger manufacturing facility. Both were provided by a new Delahaye owner and fellow racer, George Morane, and his brother-in-law Leon Desmarais, who partnered with Émile in the incorporation of the new automotive company, "Societe Des Automobiles Delahaye", in 1898. All three worked with the foundry workers to assemble the new machines, but middle-aged Émile was not in good health.

The Peerless Motor Car Company was an American automobile manufacturer that produced the Peerless brand of motorcars in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1900 to 1931. One of the "Three Ps" – Packard, Peerless, and Pierce-Arrow – the company was known for building high-quality luxury automobiles. Swift Motor Company brand

The Swift Motor Company made Swift Cars in Coventry, England from 1900 until 1931. It grew progressively from James Starley's Coventry Sewing Machine Company, via bicycle and motorised cycle manufacture. The cars ranged from a single-cylinder car in 1900 using an MMC engine, through a Swift-engined twin-cylinder 7-horsepower light car in 1904, and a 3-litre model in 1913. The Maudslay Motor Company was a British vehicle maker based in Coventry. It was founded in 1902 and continued until 1948 when it was taken over by the Associated Equipment Company (AEC) and along with Crossley Motors the new group was renamed Associated Commercial Vehicles (ACV) Ltd.

During the years 1884 through 1934 there were a total of twenty different automobile makes in Syracuse, New York. Manufacturing was not limited to passenger cars as there were several trucks and motorcycles built in the city as well.
