The National Assembly or Aiwān-e-Zairīñ of Pākistān is the lower legislative house of the bicameral Majlis-e-Shura, which also comprises the Senate of Pakistan. The National Assembly and the Senate both convene at Parliament House in Islamabad. The National Assembly is a democratically elected body consisting of a total of 336 members, before 25th amendment they used to be 342 who are referred to as Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), of which 272 are directly elected members and 70 reserved seats for women and religious minorities. A political party must secure 137 seats to obtain and preserve a majority.

Vakkom Majeed was an Indian freedom fighter, politician and a former member of the Travancore-Cochin State Assembly. He was born into one of the most prominent aristocratic Muslim families in Travancore. Influenced by the works of his uncle, Vakkom Moulavi, he became involved in social and political reform movements. Majeed was one of the early architects of the Indian National Congress in Travancore, eventually becoming the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Attingal constituency (1948–1952). Fahmida Mirza is a Pakistani politician who is the current Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination, in office since 20 August 2018. She served as the 18th and only women Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan from March 2008 to June 2013.
Qazi Abdul Majeed Abid or Qazi Abid, was the father of Former National Speaker Fahmida Mirza and former member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Daily Ibrat Newspaper Kazi Asad Abid. He died due to lung cancer on 27 August 1996. He was a prominent politician and journalist from Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan. Qazi Abid held several positions in the Federal Cabinet of numerous Pakistani Prime Ministers. His positions included Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Federal Minister of Education, Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Federal Minister for Water and Power. He was the publisher of the Daily Ibrat, a Sindhi newspaper, which is still published by his son Qazi Asad Abid. His excellence in the field of journalism was recognized formally when he was awarded the Writers' Forum Award in 1985.
Marvi Pir Mazhar was a member of Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh Assembly in 2003 to 2008. She was elected from PS-74 Dadu-IV in Dadu, Sindh, Pakistan. Marvi Mazhar is the daughter of Pir Mazhar Ul Haq the parliamentary leader of Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh Assembly and present Senior Minister with the Portfolio of Education in the Sindh Cabinet. She is the great grand daughter of former Chief Minister of Sindh, Pir Ilahi Bux, and of Qazi Akbar, long serving Sindh Provincial Minister. She is the great niece of Dr. Fahmida Mirza, the ex-Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan and great grand niece of ex-Federal Minister Qazi Abdul Majeed Abid. She was a member of Sindh Assembly's Standing Committee on Education.
The Qazis of Hyderabad, Sindh are an established Pakistani and Sindhi political family from Hyderabad, Sindh. Most, though not all, members of the family that were in politics were known by their title, Qazi, which is the name given to certain Judges under Islamic Law, instead of their last name "Abbasi".
