The club was founded in 1911 as Germania Grohn and later merged with Ball-Spielverein Grohn, which was established in 1922. After World War II, all sports clubs in Bremen were dissolved by the Allies, but the club was reestablished in 1945 through a merger with TV Grohn von 1883. One of the club's notable achievements was competing in the Gauliga Weser-Ems during the 1943/44 season at the highest level and facing SV Werder Bremen in a home league match (3–1).
