Sabai Sabai Sesame, or Happy Happy Sesame in English, is the Cambodian version of the popular American children's series Sesame Street . [1]
It debuted 13 December 2005 on Apsara TV-11. [1] [2] [3] The show was produced by Educational Television Cambodia in association with Sesame Workshop, through a grant from the United States embassy. [1] [3] Episodes were aired twice weekly in Khmer. [1] [2]
The show largely consisted of clips of the American production dubbed in Khmer by Babel Studios and Seven Colours. [2] [4]
Sesame Workshop, Inc. (SW), originally known as the Children's Television Workshop, Inc. (CTW), is an American nonprofit organization that has been responsible for the production of several educational children's programs—including its first and best-known, Sesame Street—that have been televised internationally. Television producer Joan Ganz Cooney and foundation executive Lloyd Morrisett developed the idea to form an organization to produce Sesame Street, a television series which would help children, especially those from low-income families, prepare for school. They spent two years, from 1966 to 1968, researching, developing, and raising money for the new series. Cooney was named as the Workshop's first executive director, which was termed "one of the most important television developments of the decade."
Elmo is a red Muppet character on the children's television show Sesame Street. A furry red monster who speaks in a high-pitched falsetto voice and frequently refers to himself in the third person, he hosts the last full five-minute segment on Sesame Street, "Elmo's World", which is aimed at toddlers. Pailin is a province in western Cambodia at the northern edge of the Cardamom Mountains near the border of Thailand. Play with Me Sesame is an American children's television series, created by Sesame Workshop and Nickelodeon for their former joint venture Noggin. It is a spin-off of Sesame Street hosted by Ernie, Bert, Prairie Dawn, and Grover. The series' backgrounds and animated elements were made by Nickelodeon Digital in New York City. Nickelodeon and Sesame Workshop developed the show to expand on Sesame Street by directly encouraging young viewers to interact with the characters. To do this, they combined classic Sesame Street sketches with new segments, where the hosts invite preschoolers to join them in games.
