Sabin Nsanzimana is a Rwandan epidemiologist,currently serving as the Minister of Health in the Government of Rwanda. He is a former Director General of Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC). [1] [2] [3] [4]
Nsanzimana attended Minor Seminary Virgo Fidelis and went on to study medicine at the University of Rwanda. He also holds a master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the same University. [5] He completed a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Basel,Switzerland. His Ph.D. thesis was entitled "Optimizing the Effectiveness for Individual- and Community-Level Outcomes in the Era of Pre-and on ART in Rwanda". [6] Nsanzimana is a respected researcher among Rwandans with a high number of citations.
For the past decade,Nsanzimana worked in the national HIV Program. Before serving as the Director General,Nsanzimana served as the Director of the National HIV Program in Rwanda Biomedical Center. He shortly served as the Director General of the University Teaching Hospital of Butare. [7] In November 2022,Nsanzimana was appointed as the new Minister of Health,replacing Dr. Ngamije Daniel. [8]
As of June 2018,Nsanzimana is married and has three children. [6]
Rwanda is a de facto one-party state ruled by the Rwandan Patriotic Front and its leader Paul Kagame since the end of the 1994 genocide against members of the Tutsi ethnic group. Although Rwanda is nominally democratic,elections are manipulated in various ways,which include banning opposition parties,arresting or assassinating critics,and electoral fraud.

Milsum was a Canadian control engineer who was Professor and first Director at the Biomedical Engineering Department of the McGill University in Montreal,and a professor at the University of British Columbia. Milsum is known for his book "Biological Control Systems Analysis" from 1966,which is a classic in the field and has been translated into many languages.
Eric Goosby is an American public health official,currently serving as Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Global Health Delivery,Diplomacy and Economics,Institute for Global Health Sciences at University of California,San Francisco. Dr. Goosby previously served as the UN Special Envoy on Tuberculosis as well as previously served as the United States Global AIDS Coordinator from 2009 until mid-November 2013. In the role,Goosby directed the U.S. strategy for addressing HIV around the world and led President Obama's implementation of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Goosby was sworn in during June 2009 and resigned in November 2013,taking a position as a professor at UCSF,where he directs the Center for Global Health Delivery and Diplomacy,a collaboration between UCSF and the University of California,Berkeley.

Agnes Binagwaho is a Rwandan Politician,pediatrician,co-founder and the former vice chancellor of the University of Global Health Equity (2017-2022). In 1996,she returned to Rwanda where she provided clinical care in the public sector as well as held many positions including the position of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health of Rwanda from October 2008 until May 2011 and Minister of Health from May 2011 until July 2016. She has been a professor of global health delivery practice since 2016 and a professor of pediatrics since 2017 at the University of Global Health Equity. She has served the health sector in various high-level government positions. She resides in Kigali.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Rwanda was a part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached Rwanda in March 2020. Rwanda's response to the pandemic has received international praise for its effectiveness. Despite limited resources,the country's well organised healthcare system,rapid deployment of testing procedures and high public trust in medical authorities have led to a successful public health response. As of 15 December 2021,there were 100,763 total confirmed cases,1,344 confirmed deaths,7 million first vaccine shots,and 1 critical case.
Etienne Karita is a Rwandan scientist who has been researching HIV/AIDS in Rwanda since the mid-1980s. He has held numerous leadership positions in different organizations that are working to control HIV in Rwanda. Some of his work is concentrated on preventing mother to child transmission of HIV and in collaboration with Projet San Francisco,he has studied HIV in discordant couples.

Leon Mutesa is a Rwandan Professor of human genetics who serves as the Director of the Center for Human Genetics at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences,University of Rwanda,a center he established in 2006. Mutesa obtained his MD from the University of Rwanda in 2003 and earned his PhD in 2009 from the University of Liege,Belgium,where he also completed his postdoc in 2011. Mutesa's career has been marked by involvement in clinical services,academia,research,capacity-building,and health sector management.
