Sadanand Joshi

Sadanand D. Joshi is the president of Joshi Technologies International, Inc. (JTI) and a petroleum engineer, he contributed in developing horizontal well technology to produce crude oil and natural gas. [1] He was also a distinguished lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers in 1995-1996. He was listed by Oil and Gas Investor magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the petroleum century.

Biography

He earned his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, and earned his M.Tech. in 1975 in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). He earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University (ISU) in 1978. [2]

He is well known in the Oil & Gas industry for his technical papers and best selling book on the subject, which was published by PennWell in 1991. By virtue of his extensive scholarship in this area, he has gained numerous accolades, including being designated as a Distinguished Lecturer by the Society of Petroleum Engineers for the 1995-1996 season. At the beginning of 2000, Joshi was honored by the "Oil & Gas Investor" and was listed along with many well known names as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the Petroleum Century.[ citation needed ]

Joshi founded JTI in 1988 after a successful nine-year tenure at Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Drawing on his expertise in the field of horizontal well technology, he has guided the company to its current position, as both an international consulting and E&P company. In addition to his role as the CEO of the company, Joshi's primary responsibilities include international project origination/negotiation and strategic planning.

In March 2003, Joshi was named as a distinguished Alumnus by his alma mater, IIT Bombay, India. [3] [4] In 2012, because of his outstanding engineering contribution to the oil industry he received the Anson Marston Medal from his alma mater, ISU. [5]

Jagjeet (Jeet) Bindra is a director of Edison International and one of the United States’ largest electric utilities, Southern California Edison. His career has included several senior executive roles in refinery operations, refinery and upstream engineering, strategic planning, capital projects and engineering technology.


Mukul M. Sharma is a professor who holds the W. A. "Tex" Moncrief, Jr. Centennial Chair in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He received a B. Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (1980) and then M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Southern California in 1981 and 1985 respectively. He has been on the faculty at the University of Texas for the past 39 years and served as chairman of the department from 2001 to 2005.

Morris Muskat was an American petroleum engineer. Muskat refined Darcy's equation for single phase flow, and this change made it suitable for the petroleum industry. Meres also generalized Darcy's law to cover multiphase flow of water, oil and gas in the porous medium of a petroleum reservoir. The generalized flow equation provides the analytical foundation for reservoir engineering that exists to this day.

Yendluri Shanthi Pavan is an Indian electrical engineer and a professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He is known for his studies on mixed signal VLSI circuits and is an elected fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He is also a fellow of IEEE. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Engineering Sciences in 2012.

He is known for his studies on metastable soft matter and is an elected fellow of the Society of Rheology, Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences,The National Academy of Sciences, India, and Indian National Academy of Engineering. In 2015, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded Joshi the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology for his contributions to Engineering Sciences. In 2023, he received prestigious J C Bose fellowship constituted by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India.

Mukta Ghate Farooq is an Indian metallurgical engineer of Marathi descent working for the IBM Corporation in Hopewell Junction, New York. She was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2016 for her contributions to 3D integration and interconnect technology. She is currently a Distinguished Research Staff Member at IBM Research and has over 220 issued US patents including patent numbers 10199315, 20180061749, and 8367543. In 2017, IIT Bombay awarded her the notable alumna award
