She was born in a Muslim family to Babu and Beegam, as eldest of six children, at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.[ citation needed ]

Mahalakshmi Menon, best known by her stagename Shobha, was an Indian actress best known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil films.
