Barisal Division is one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. Located in the south-central part of the country,it has an area of 13,225 km2 (5,106 sq mi),and a population of 9,325,820 at the 2022 Census. It is the least populous Division in Bangladesh. It is bounded by Dhaka Division on the north,the Bay of Bengal on the south,Chittagong Division on the east and Khulna Division on the west. The administrative capital,Barisal city,lies in the Padma River delta on an offshoot of the Arial Khan River. Barisal division is criss-crossed by numerous rivers that earned it the nickname Dhan-Nodi-Khal,Ei tin-e Borishal.

Apanjan,or simply Aponjon is a 1968 Indian Bengali language socio-political drama film directed by Tapan Sinha. The film is produced by R.K Kapoor under the banner of K.L Kapoor Productions and is based on a short story written by Indra Mittra,which itself was inspired from the political violence taken place in West Bengal. It consists of an ensemble cast of Chhaya Devi,Swarup Dutta,Samit Bhanja,Mrinal Mukherjee,Partho Mukherjee,Kalyan Chatterjee and Shyamal Banerjee in lead roles,with Bhanu Bandopadhyay,Rabi Ghosh,Chinmoy Roy and Dilip Roy in extended cameo appearances. The soundtrack of the film is composed by Tapan Sinha himself. Set against the backdrop of the political violence that rocked India,and West Bengal in particular,in the late 1960s,it tells the story of an aged widow in a village who goes to Calcutta to stay with relatives,but faces only exploitation. She moves to a slum,and finds her "own people" in a group of educated,unemployed youth,who are caught up inexorably in the prevalent violence.
Dilip Ghosh is an Indian politician from West Bengal. He was the Member of Parliament representing the Medinipur constituency in Lok Sabha. He also served as one of the national vice presidents of Bharatiya Janata Party from 2021 to 2023. He served as the 9th president of the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Boro Maa was a matriarch of the Matua Mahasangha,a Hindu religious reformation movement. Her original name was Binapani Devi Thakur;the name "Boro Maa" translates to "elder mother",an epithet for universal mother of Matua Community. She along with her husband Pramatha Ranjan Thakur established the community's new capital at Thakurnagar.

The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election was the 17th quinquennial legislative election held in West Bengal,to elect all 294 members of West Bengal Legislative Assembly. This electoral process of 292 seats unfolded between 27 March to 29 April 2021,taking place in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021.
