<span class="mw-page-title-main">49er (dinghy)</span> Olympic sailing class

The 49er and 49er FX is a two-handed skiff-type high-performance sailing dinghy. The two crew work on different roles with the helm making many tactical decisions, as well as steering, and the crew doing most of the sail control. Both of the crew are equipped with their own trapeze and sailing is done while cantilevered over the water to the fullest extent to balance against the sails.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Musto Skiff</span>

The Musto Skiff is a single-handed sailing skiff with a length of 4.55 m. It features a trapeze, asymmetrical spinnaker, wings and low weight and achieves speeds of over 20 knots, which makes it one of the fastest single-handed sailing boats.

The mixed 49er was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2008 Summer Olympics program in Qingdao International Sailing Centre. Sixteen races were scheduled. Only thirteen races were completed including the medal race due to lack of wind. 38 sailors, on 19 boats, from 19 nations competed. Ten boats qualified for the medal race.

Sailing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held from 8–18 August at Marina da Gloria in Guanabara Bay. The sailing classes had two changes from the 2012 Summer Olympics events. There were 10 events.

The girls' Optimist competition at the 2015 SEA Games was held at the National Sailing Centre. Sailors up to the age of 16 were allowed to participate.

The 2017 49er & 49er FX World Championships were held in Matosinhos, Portugal 28 August – 2 September 2017. 140 teams from 27 nations competed in the regatta that saw British Dylan Fletcher-Scott and Stuart Bithell as winners of the 49er class and Danish Jena Hansen and Katja Salskov-Iversen as winners of the 49er FX class.

The Women 49er FX is a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2020 Summer Olympics program in Tokyo and took place between 27 July – 3 August. The defending champions, Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze from Brazil, won the event. Tina Lutz and Susann Beucke from Germany were the second, and Annemiek Bekkering and Annette Duetz from the Netherlands won the bronze medal. For Lutz, Beucke, Bekkring, and Duetz this was the first Olympic medal.
