The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Its current 11 full members are located in four Northeastern states: Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Maryland. It was announced on October 23, 2023 that Sacred Heart University and Merrimack College will join the conference beginning in the 2024-25 season.

They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Albany, Texas State, Furman and Texas A&M–Corpus Christi to become CIT champions.

As the No. 9 seed at the MAAC tournament, they defeated No. 8 seed Monmouth and upset No. 1 seed Rider to advance to the semifinals, where they lost to No. 4 seed Iona.
Elnardo Julian Webster Sr. was an American professional basketball player who played one season in the American Basketball Association (ABA). He played college basketball for the Saint Peter's Peacocks. Webster played in the ABA for the New York Nets and Memphis Pros during the 1971–1972 season. He also played in the Lega Basket Serie A in Italy. At a height of 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m), he played at the small forward position.

The Peacocks, led by fourth-year head coach Shaheen Holloway, played their home games at the Run Baby Run Arena in Jersey City, New Jersey, as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 22–12, 14–6 in MAAC play to finish in second place. They defeated Fairfield and Quinnipiac in the MAAC tournament, advancing to the championship game. There they defeated Monmouth to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, for the first time since 2011, as the No. 15 seed in the East region.
Douglas Ryan Edert is an American college basketball player for the Bryant Bulldogs of the America East Conference. He previously played for the Saint Peter's Peacocks. Edert is best known for his integral role in Saint Peter's historic underdog run to the Elite Eight in the 2022 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament.
