The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I, consisting of eleven schools located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.
De La Salle High School is a private Roman Catholic school for boys run by the De La Salle Christian Brothers of the District of San Francisco in Concord California, United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland. The school was founded in 1965 by the De La Salle Brothers. De La Salle currently enrolls 1,039 students, and roughly 99% of each graduating class goes on to attend a university or college. It is home to the Spartans, the athletic varsity teams of the school and its school colors are green and silver. The school motto is "Les Hommes De Foi", French for "Men Of Faith", which is based on the order's Latin motto "Signum Fidei".
Manhattan College is a private, Catholic, liberal arts college in the Bronx in New York City. After originally being established in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools as an academy for day students, Manhattan College was officially incorporated as an institution of higher education through a charter granted by the New York State Board of Regents. In 1922, the college moved from Manhattan to the Riverdale section of the Bronx, roughly 6.4 miles (10.3 km) north of its original location on 131st Street in the Manhattanville section of Manhattan.

The MAAC Men's Basketball Tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The tournament has been held every year since 1982, the MAAC's first season. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner, declared conference champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament. The MAAC did not receive its automatic bid from the NCAA until 1984.

The school rivalry between De La Salle University and the Ateneo de Manila University began when both educational institutions participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the Philippines (NCAA), and has carried over to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) where both universities compete in currently. The De La Salle men's varsity team is known as the De La Salle Green Archers, women's varsity team as the De La Salle Lady Archers, and high school team as the De La Salle Zobel Junior Archers. The Ateneo men's varsity team is known as the Ateneo Blue Eagles, women's varsity team as the Ateneo Lady Eagles, and high school team as the Ateneo Blue Eaglets. La Salle and Ateneo were both co-founders of the NCAA in 1924, until Ateneo left the league in 1978 to join the UAAP while La Salle announced its decision to leave the NCAA in September of 1980. Both Catholic private schools in the Metro Manila area have been fiercely competing against each other in the UAAP ever since La Salle was also admitted to join the league in 1986.
The rivalry between the De La Salle University Green Archers and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers is contested at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Although the men's basketball rivalry had died down after the 1990s, it has been back in limelight in 2013 as both schools again met in the UAAP basketball championship series. The rivalry had also been apparent in women's volleyball where the two teams are frequent finalists in the UAAP Volleyball Championship and the Shakey's V-League.

The Marist Red Foxes football program is the intercollegiate American football team for Marist College located in the U.S. state of New York. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and are members of the Pioneer Football League. Marist's first football team was fielded in 1978. The team plays its home games at the 5,000 seat Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Red Foxes are coached by Jim Parady.
The Loyola Greyhounds men's soccer team represents Loyola University Maryland in NCAA Division I soccer. It became a member of the Patriot League on July 1, 2013. Previously it competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) from 1989 to 2013. To avoid ambiguity, the team is often referenced as Loyola Maryland or Loyola (MD), as there are two other institutions named Loyola that compete at the Division I level.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the men's basketball player in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) voted as the most outstanding player. The award was first presented following the 1981–82 season, the first MAAC season, through voting by the league's head coaches. The award was first given to William Brown of Saint Peter's in 1982 after Brown averaged 17.0 ppg, while leading the Peacocks to the NIT.
The UST Lady Booters women's football team represents the University of Santo Tomas in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). UST has made 11 Finals appearances and won two championships since the women's football tournament began in the league in 1995. Their head coach as of August 9, 2015 is former Lady Booter Aging Rubio.
