Sakimichan is the pen-name of Yue Wang, a Canadian artist known for her digital paintings and unique style, particularly those in which she draws fanarts of game and popular characters, and creating gifs for her fans with voice-acting. [2]
After graduating from Dawson College in 3D animation in 2012, [3] she began work at BioWare as a Junior Concept Artist where she worked briefly on designs for Mass Effect: Andromeda . She participated in various art and comic conventions, including the Anime Expo in Los Angeles, and is a regular artist at both Anime North and Fan Expo Canada in Toronto. In 2017, she attended the Singapore Toy Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) as a guest artist. [4] Currently, she makes most of her income from creating both original and fan-based work and tutorials on Patreon. [5] In 2019, she started a sponsor page for Chinese fans. [6]
Some of her fan art pieces include genderbends, where a male character is redesigned as a female character or vice versa. [7]
Cosplay, a portmanteau of "costume play", is an activity and performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture, and a broader use of the term "cosplay" applies to any costumed role-playing in venues apart from the stage. It is a non-profit, fan-run anime convention that was initiated by Concordia University's anime club, named Otaku Anime of Concordia University. The name "Otakuthon" is a portmanteau of the Japanese word "otaku" and "marathon". Otakuthon strives to be a bilingual event, having programming, the masquerade and the program book in both official languages. The first edition of Otakuthon was held in 2006 in mid-June, but later moved to early-mid August / late July from 2007 onward. Domee Shi is a Chinese-born Canadian animator, director and screenwriter. Since 2011, she has worked for Pixar, contributing as a storyboard artist for multiple films, including Inside Out (2015), Incredibles 2 (2018), and Toy Story 4 (2019). Shi directed the 2018 short film Bao and the 2022 feature film Turning Red, becoming the first woman to direct a short film and then the first woman with sole director's credit on a feature film for Pixar. Win or Lose is an upcoming American computer-animated streaming television series created by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates and produced by Pixar Animation Studios for the streaming service Disney+. The studio's first original long-form animated series, it was written and directed by Hobson and Yates from an idea they conceived, and produced by David Lally. The series revolves around a co-ed softball team at middle school named the Pickles in the week leading up to their big championship game, with each episode showing the perspective of each member in the same events for each reflected in a unique visual style.
