Tamil cinema refers to Tamil-language motion pictures, which are primarily made in India. Based in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the hub of the Tamil film industry is in the Kodambakkam neighbourhood of Chennai. Kollywood is a colloquial term for this industry, the word being a portmanteau of Kodambakkam and Hollywood.

Ghajini is a 2005 Indian Tamil language martial arts film directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Salem Chandrasekharan. The film stars Suriya, Asin, Nayanthara, with Pradeep Rawat and Riyaz Khan playing supporting roles. Pradeep Rawat plays identical twins. Harris Jayaraj composed the soundtrack and background music, while R. D. Rajasekhar and Anthony were the film's cinematographer and editor respectively. The film explores the life of a rich businessman who develops anterograde amnesia following a violent encounter in which his love interest was killed by the villain. He tries to avenge the killing with the aid of Polaroid Instant camera photographs, permanent tattoos on his body and a medical college student.

Before venturing into film production, he was a cinema distributor and a theatre owner in Salem called ARK Complex with three theatres. [3] Sources say that he has sold / leased the 3 theatres due to loss in production since Ghajini was the only hit film under his banner. Currently the 3 theatres are closed due to renovation work.

Sullan is a 2004 Indian Tamil action masala drama film written and directed by Ramana. It stars Dhanush, along with Sindhu Tolani, Manivannan, Pasupathy and Easwari Rao among others. The film was composed by Vidyasagar. The film was opened to negative reviews from the film critics and audience. It was later dubbed in Telugu as Mourya.

February 14 is a 2005 Indian Tamil romantic comedy film directed by debutant S. P. Hosimin. Produced by Sri Saravanaa Creations, the film stars Bharath and Renuka Menon, whilst its soundtrack was composed by Bharathwaj. Having proved his acting skills in Kaadhal (2004), Bharath has yet again given a matured performance. The movie has received to positive reviews.

<i>Sabari</i>

Sabari is a 2007 Tamil action film directed by Suresh. It stars Vijayakanth as the titular character in the lead role, while Jyothirmayi, Malavika, and Pradeep Rawat play supporting roles. Shooting for the film was done at various locations in India, including Chennai, Pondicherry and Rameswaram. Songs for the film were shot at Hong Kong. The film released on 17 March 2007 to positive reviews. This movie was running 120 Days but it was an average hit at the box office. It was later dubbed in Hindi as Hathiyaar.

It stars Bharath and Nila in the lead roles, while Vivek and Roja play pivotal roles. The music was composed by Srikanth Deva. After beginning production in 2006, the film went through production troubles before releasing on 30 January 2015.

Theni Kunjarammal was an Indian actress and playback singer who has worked in the Tamil film industry. As a playback singer, she has worked extensively with A. R. Rahman during the late 1990s and early 2000s for folk songs, while also regularly collaborating with Harris Jayaraj.
