Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is a former international cricketer from India and a former captain of the Indian national team. Oxford UCCE started their 2005 first-class season with a weak draw against a Gloucestershire side that opted to use the game as batting practice. Their second first-class game, against Derbyshire, Oxford UCCE did well in the first innings, dismissing their visitors cheaply and building up a large lead. However, they weren't able to dismiss them a second time, in a game which was reduced through rain. In the third match, they lost by ten wickets against Lancashire, after a poor showing in their second innings.
Cambridge UCCE had a good start to their 2005 first-class season, setting Essex a target of 270 to win, after declaring in their second innings on 255 for 4. They took 6 wickets in defending the total, although they lost to the county in the end. They then narrowly lost to Warwickshire before beating Yorkshire in their last game of the season against a first-class county. They also played two matches as Cambridge University against Oxford University, winning the one-day game, but falling by an innings and 213 runs in their final first-class game of the season.

The University Match in a cricketing context is generally understood to refer to the annual fixture between Oxford University Cricket Club and Cambridge University Cricket Club.
Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian international cricketer. A left-handed opening batsman and an occasional right-arm off break bowler, he plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He played for the Indian Under-17 and Under-19 teams before making his first-class debut for Delhi in November 2004. At the 2015 World Cup, he was the leading run-scorer for India and in the following year, became the fastest Indian to reach 3,000 ODI runs. In December 2017, he became the 2nd fastest Indian to reach 4000 ODI runs. Dhawan also holds the record for most runs in a calendar year in Twenty20 International cricket (689). He is known for his successful and crucial knocks in ICC Tournaments.
Philip John Whitcombe is a former English first-class cricketer who played 34 matches between 1949 and 1953. 26 of these were for Oxford University, and eight for Worcestershire. He was a wicket-keeper, though he did play in some games as a batsman only.
Virat Kohli is an Indian cricketer who currently captains the India national team. A right-handed top-order batsman, Kohli is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world. He plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and has been the team's captain since 2013. Since October 2017, he has been the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world and is currently 2nd in Test rankings with 886 points. Percy Christopherson was an English sportsman who played rugby union as a threequarter for Blackheath and represented England at international level. Christopherson also played cricket, making two first-class appearances. He was employed as a teacher at Wellington College, Berkshire.
Avinash Sunil Sharma, made his first class debut for Oxford University cricket team in 2010, scoring 185 not out in the Varsity Match, the oldest first class fixture in cricket, dating back to 1827. He is the brother of former Oxford cricket captain Rajiv Sharma. Avinash Sharma holds the record for the highest ever score on first class debut in the Varsity match. This is also the highest ever score on debut by a New Zealander in a first class cricket match.
Mayank Anurag Agarwal is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a right-handed opening batsman for Karnataka. He made his international debut for the India cricket team on 26 December 2018 against Australia.
Samridh Sunil "Sam" Agarwal is an Indian cricketer who played for Oxford University and the associated Oxford MCCU. Born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, he was educated at the all-boys Indian boarding school The Doon School in Dehradun before transferring to Millfield in Street, Somerset in England. He made his debut in first-class cricket in 2010. He bats right handed and bowls right arm offbreaks. In the opening round of first-class fixtures in 2013, he took 3-26 and scored 108 against the county champions, Warwickshire County Cricket Club. In the four-day varsity match at Cambridge during the 2013 season, Agarwal scored 313 not out from 312 balls, becoming the first player to record a triple century in inter-university matches, and breaking the record for the highest score by an Oxford player at first-class level.
