Salisbury City F.C. was an English football club based in Salisbury, unrelated to the later Salisbury City F.C. and the current Salisbury F.C.

Contents

The club joined the Western Football League in 1905–06, having previously played in the Hampshire League. [1] The following season they moved up to the Southern League, where they stayed until 1911. [2]

The club resurfaced in the Western League in 1927, left again in 1929, and rejoined in 1930. They remained in Division Two of the Western League throughout the 1930s, finishing as runners-up three times, and left the league for the final time in 1939. The club folded during the Second World War, and a new club named Salisbury was formed in 1947.

City were also regular entrants in the FA Cup, reaching the Fourth Qualifying Round twice in 1928–29 and 1931–32. [2]

Salisbury City Football Club was an English football club based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. They were formed in 1947 and played at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium. Salisbury had gained back-to-back promotions in recent years, first to the Conference South in the 2005–06 season by finishing top of the Southern League Premier Division, followed by winning the play-off final in the 2006–07 season to participate in the Conference Premier in 2007–08. They played the 2010–11 season in the Southern League Premier Division after being relegated from the Conference Premier at the end of the 2009–10 season, but won promotion to the Conference South for the 2011–12 season in the first season following their relegation. The club spent two seasons in the Conference South before winning promotion to the Conference Premier via the play-offs in the 2012–13 season. Nicholas Charles Holmes is an English former professional footballer. He spent the majority of his playing career with Southampton, where he won the FA Cup Final in 1976. In 1987, he joined East Cowes Victoria for a season before retiring. From July 2002 to July 2009, Holmes was manager of Salisbury City.

Frederick Stewart was an English football manager. He took up his first managerial role in 1896 with Lancashire League side Stockport County and led them to their first title in 1900. Their success saw them elected to the Second Division of the Football League. The club struggled initially and, after being forced to seek re-election on several occasions, Stewart was replaced by Sam Ormerod. However, Ormerod also struggled and Stewart was reinstated a year later.
