Salt Lake Symphony

The Salt Lake Symphony was founded in 1976 and is a volunteer orchestra that performs in the Libby Gardner Concert Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah. [1] The Salt Lake Symphony is best known for its yearly Vienna Ball Gala on Valentine's Day each year. [2] The orchestra's season generally consists of ten unique[ clarification needed ] performances.

The Salt Lake Symphony is one of the area's volunteer driven orchestras. The Salt Lake Symphony is a non-profit organization performing classical music concerts for the Wasatch Front community. The approximately seventy-five musicians of the SLS volunteer roughly 10,000 hours annually to accomplish this goal.[ citation needed ]

Robert Baldwin has served as music director and conductor since 2005. [3] He also serves as Director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Utah.

Utah Symphony

The Utah Symphony is an American orchestra based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The orchestra's principal venue is Abravanel Hall. In addition to its Salt Lake City subscription concerts, the orchestra travels around the Intermountain West serving communities throughout Utah. The orchestra accompanies the Utah Opera in four productions per year at Salt Lake's Capitol Theatre. In addition, the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera have a summer residency at the Deer Valley Music Festival, located in Park City, Utah. The orchestra receives funding from the Utah State Legislature for educational concerts. The Symphony has a division in Utah Valley that is based out of the Noorda Center for the Performing Arts at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Orchestra at Temple Square

The Orchestra at Temple Square (Orchestra) is a 110-member orchestra located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Orchestra was created in 1999 under the direction of Gordon B. Hinckley, then the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as part of an initiative to continually strengthen and expand the capabilities of the church's music organizations.

Music & the Spoken Word is a religious radio and television series. Broadcast weekly from the Salt Lake Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah, the program primarily features performances of music by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square—often accompanied by the Salt Lake Tabernacle organ and the Orchestra at Temple Square, accompanied by spiritual messages and passages related to a specific episode's theme.

Jahja Ling is a conductor, music director and pianist. From 2004 to 2017, he was the music director and conductor of the San Diego Symphony. Following his retirement in 2017, he plans to do guest conducting, as well as teaching and volunteering. Jerold Don Ottley was an American music director and choral conductor. He served as the director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (Choir) from 1974 to 1999. During his tenure, he established the Choir's annual Christmas concert and appointed its first female organist. Prior to that, he was assistant chair of the University of Utah's Music Department.

The Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus (MYSC) was an official musical organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1969 to 1999, composed of young musicians aged 18 to 33. In its 30-year history, MYSC was credited with many television specials, numerous recordings, concerts, and several major tours throughout the United States. The group was disbanded during the 1999 reorganization of the Tabernacle Choir and resulting creation of the Orchestra at Temple Square. The choral arm of the group provided music for the church's annual and semi-annual general conferences, usually during the Saturday morning sessions.

Robert M. Cundick

Robert Milton Cundick Sr. was a Latter-day Saint composer. He also served for many years as an organist at the Salt Lake Tabernacle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This included accompanying the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and playing organ solos on the weekly broadcast, Music & the Spoken Word.

Millennial Choirs & Orchestras Musical organization

Millennial Choirs & Orchestras (MCO) is a musical organization of choirs for youth and adults, as well as a symphony orchestra. MCO was founded in 2007 for the purpose of teaching and encouraging excellence in sacred and classical music, especially to its youth. The organization prioritizes in offering music performance education, with a focus on the works and styles of classical composers. MCO has locations in five states: California, Arizona, Utah, Texas, and Idaho.

Jeff Manookian was an American pianist, composer, and conductor from Salt Lake City, Utah.
