Sam Bonds Garage is a music venue and pub in the Whiteaker neighborhood of Eugene, Oregon, United States. It has been voted as one of America's best bars by Esquire . [1]
Sam C. Bond was the grandson of Eugene-area pioneers Allen and Rachel Bond, owners of a 320-acre donation land claim awarded in 1853 on the current site of the Eugene Airport. Bond operated a garage on Blair Street, constructed sometime between 1918 and 1923, although Bond purchased the property in 1926. Active in local politics, Bond served on the Eugene City Council from 1930 to 1942 and was credited in the site survey for the Eugene Blair Boulevard Commercial Area as having guided Eugene through the Great Depression. Bond retired from the garage in 1972. [2] [3]
The building became a Eugene night spot in 1995, when Sam Bond's Garage opened and began showcasing regional music talent.

Steve Roland "Pre" Prefontaine was an American long-distance runner who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics. While running for the Oregon Track Club, Prefontaine set American records at every distance from 2,000 to 10,000 meters, as he prepared for the 1976 Olympics. Prefontaine's career, alongside those of Jim Ryun, Frank Shorter, and Bill Rodgers, generated considerable media coverage, which helped inspire the 1970s "running boom." He died at age 24 in an automobile accident near his residence in Eugene, Oregon. One of the premier track meets in the world, the Prefontaine Classic, is held annually in Eugene in his honor. Prefontaine's celebrity and charisma later resulted in two 1990s feature films about his short life.

It was built in 1886 by George Collier, a physics and chemistry professor at the University of Oregon, and his two sons to his own design. It was originally built as his residence but was sold to the university in 1893, when it joined Deady and Villard halls as the third building on the fledgling campus. Coryell Pass is a gap located near Eugene in Lane County, Oregon, United States, near the confluence of the Coast Fork and Middle Fork of the Willamette River. The gap is formed by the river between Eugene's South Hills and Springfield's Quarry Butte. The pass is commemorated by a brass marker located on Franklin Boulevard, on what was formerly the route of Pacific Highway. The marker, which was placed by the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), reads "Coryell Pass, Oregon Trail, 1846, Erected by Oregon Lewis and Clark Chapter D.A.R., 1917". The pass was on the southern route of the Oregon Trail blazed by Jesse Applegate and known as the Applegate Trail.
