Samarjit Lankesh is an Indian actor in the Kannada film industry, who made his lead debut through Gowri (2024). [1]
Born into a family with a cinematic and literary heritage, he is the son of director and producer Indrajit Lankesh and the grandson of writer-filmmaker P. Lankesh. [2] [3] [4] whose works are considered seminal in modern Kannada literature. [5] He is nephew of Gauri Lankesh and Kavitha Lankesh. [6]
Raised in Bengaluru, Samarjit completed his schooling at The Valley School and National Hill View Public School.[ citation needed ]
He later pursued theatre studies and received training in acting and filmmaking from an institute in New York, equipping him with a foundation for his career in the entertainment industry. [6] [4]
He started his career in films as child artist in the bilingual film Summer Holidays [7] [8] directed by Kavitha Lankesh.
In 2024, Samarjit made his acting debut as lead in the Kannada film Gowri, directed by his father, Indrajit Lankesh. [9] [10]
Following the success of Gowri, [11] Samarjit was cast as Roshan Meka's replacement in the Malayalam-Telugu bilingual Vrusshabha . [12]
