The Sokoto Grand Vizier, or Wazirin Sokoto, was the Grand Vizier to the Sultan of Sokoto, the Paramount Chief of the Sokoto Caliphate and suzerain of the Usman dan Fodiyo Jihad states. The position survived the fall of the empire as a largely honorary ceremonial rank in contemporary Nigeria.

He died at the age of 91.
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) is the apex Islamic authority in Nigeria. It was established in 1973 to "cater for, preserve, protect, promote and advance the interest of Islam and Muslims throughout the country" and has been responsible for the unity of Nigerian Muslims as the official body, recognised by the Nigerian Federal and State Governments, coordinating the affairs of Islam in Nigeria. The NSCIA is headquartered at the Abuja National Mosque Office Complex, Central Business District, Abuja, Nigeria. The organisation is, inter alia, responsible for the official announcement of commencement and termination of the Ramadan fast or moon sighting in Nigeria.
Idi Barde Gubana is a Nigerian Karai-Karai politician, and the current deputy governor of Yobe state under governor Mai Mala Buni. He is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party and was elected in 2019. He was born in the Karai-Karai village of Gubana in Fune Local Government. He holds the traditional title of Waziri (Vizier) of Fune Emirate.
Mbormi Battle Ground is an historical site near Nafada in Gombe State, Nigeria. It is the site of a 1903 battle in which Muhammadu Attahiru I, the Sultan of the Sokoto Caliphate, was killed alongside many of his people. The site embodies the fight and resistance against colonial rule. Three tombs lie on the battle ground, and the site attracts many visitors.
