Samia Zaman is a Bangladeshi media personality, filmmaker and producer. [2] She was a television news presenter, reporter and talk show host. In 2006, she emerged as a film director. She also serves as the Editor and CEO of the television channel Ekattor TV. [3]

Career

In 1989, Zaman started out her career as a producer at the BBC World Service in London. [4] Zaman served as a journalist and news presenter in Ekushey Television. [3]

Films

In 1987 Zaman worked in the film Suchona, with the director Morshedul Islam as an assistant. [4] In 2006, she emerged as a filmmaker through her direction on the film Rani Kuthir Baki Itihash . [5] [6] She directed her second film, Aakash Koto Dure , in 2014. [7] [3]

In March 2015, Zaman served in the judge panel of Geneva International Oriental Film Festival. [8]

In 2024, Zaman produced the film Ajob Karkhana (2024) which direction by Shabnam Ferdousi and the film are produced under her own banner Versa Media. [9]

Personal life

Zaman has three daughters. [4]

Rani Kuthir Baki Itihash is a 2006 Bangladeshi drama-mystery film. The film was the directorial debut of news anchor and prominent media personality Samia Zaman and was produced by Bangladeshi satellite TV channel NTV, their second film production. The film starred Ferdous and Popy as the lead pair with Alamgir, Tarik Anam Khan, Rahamat Ali, MM Morshed, Ahsanul Haque Minu and others in supporting roles.

Jaago is a 2010 Bangladeshi sports drama film written and directed by Khijir Hayat Khan. The film features Ferdous and Bindu in lead roles and with supporting Arifin Shuvoo, Sharlin Farzana, Tariq Anam Khan, Rawnak Hasan, FS Nayeem and many more. It claims to be the first Bangladeshi film based entirely on football or any other sports. The story of Jaago is said to be inspired by the Shadhin Bangla football team, who raised funds during the Liberation War (1971) through charity matches and lifted the morale of the freedom fighters.

Ajob Karkhana is a 2022 Bangladeshi musical drama film written and directed by Shabnam Ferdousi and produced by Samia Zaman. It is the debut fictional film for Ferdousi, who is known as a documentary filmmaker. The film was made with a grant from the Bangladeshi government.
