Sammy Stopford MBE (born 1956) is a British professional ballroom dancer and teacher, and previous winner of the Professional International Latin American Dance Championship.
He competed in Latin dance with three main partners. His partner from 1973-79 was Lyn Aspden (now Lyn Gaskell). They won a number of amateur competitions before turning professional. Their peak achievement was winning the All England Professional Latin Championship in 1979. [1]
He married his next partner, Shirley Rich (now Shirley Ballas) in April 1980. At the time, Rich was an unknown amateur. They became world ranked #1 for two years in the Professional Latin category. They won the 1982 European Professional Latin, the 1983 Professional International Latin American Dance Championship, the British open professional Latin championships, and the 1984 Open Professional UK Latin championships. They were at this time the #1 ranked couple in the world. [2]
After his split with Shirley in February 1984, Sammy had another professional partnership with Barbara McColl. Another unknown amateur, they also became world #1 and won the International Professional Latin, UK Professional Latin, and the British Open Professional Latin. The pair also won the European Professional Latin, the Star, the Super World Cup, World Team, and the United States Open Latin Championships. [2]
Retired from competition dancing, Stopford and McColl continue to work as dance teachers and coaches to Latin dancers world wide. As competition Organisers, they run the WDC amateur league world championships in Disneyland Paris, along with Donnie Burns and Fred Bijster.[ citation needed ]
The World Dance Council Ltd (WDC), is a registered limited company, the legal successor to the International Council of Ballroom Dancing, and was established at a meeting organized by Phillip J. S. Richardson on 22 September 1950 in Edinburgh, Scotland. From 1996 to 2006 the WDC was known as the World Dance & Dance Sport Council Ltd (WD&DSC). The stated mission of the World Dance Council is to inspire, stimulate and promote excellence in education for the World Dance Council and Amateur League community.

Killick specialize in Latin dance and has won The World Cup, World Trophy, World Masters, World Series, Universal and British Professional Latin American DanceSport Championships.

Bryan Watson was nine times Professional World Latin Dance Champion and won the International Latin American Championship five times.
Karen Hardy is a British professional ballroom dancer, coach, teacher and adjudicator. In 1998 she won the professional International Latin American Dance Championship with Bryan Watson. She also won the United Kingdom Open, British National, European and World Masters championships. She now runs a dance studio at Imperial Wharf, London.

Karen Hilton MBE and Marcus Hilton MBE are a British dance couple, noted for competing in the disciplines of Ballroom and Latin American at both amateur and professional level. They have held a number of championship titles, including the World Professional Ballroom Championship, which they have won nine times representing Great Britain. They are patrons of the International Dance Teachers Association and both work as dance teachers, lecturers and competition judges.
Matthew David Cutler is an English dancer and former World Amateur Latin-American champion. He was a professional dancer on the BBC dancing show Strictly Come Dancing.
Gaynor Fairweather MBE is a British professional ballroom dancer. She and her partner, Donnie Burns, were 14-time Professional World Latin Dance Champions and 11 times Professional International Latin American Dance Champions. This is by some way the record number of wins in both these top competitions. On their retirement from competition dancing they were both appointed Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to the performing arts in the 1991 Birthday Honours.

Riccardo Cocchi is a 10-time undefeated Latin Dance Champion, with his partner, Yulia Zagoruychenko. Currently, he resides in and represents the United States of America. When not busy competing, Riccardo is available for coaching.
Barbara Joanne McColl Stopford is a Scottish professional ballroom dancer, teacher, and adjudicator. She specializes in International Latin. With Sammy Stopford, she won in the professional Latin category four times at the Blackpool Dance Festival and three times at the UK Open. She is the Organizer of The World Championship WDC AL.
