Samrat is a 1954 Bollywood film directed by Najam Naqvi. [3] The film featured Ajit, Rehana, Kamalesh Kumari and others.
The Diwan of a kingdom, Guman Singh, has connections with the leader of a pirate gang. Sagar and two of his friends Kanhaiya and Kanu learns of this connection from a wounded sailor. Bijli, a pub dancer, discovers this. Sagar informs the King but due to the power exerted by the Diwan who is engaged to the King's daughter, Rajakumari, he is jailed for giving false information. Rajakumari suspects Guman and visits the pirates' island in disguise. She learns the truth and tells her father about it. When the King called for Guman, he sensed the trouble and stages a coup. He imprisons the King and replaces him with a lookalike. Rajakumari is forced to dance in the pirates' ship. Sagar, who was earlier released, attacks the ship and frees Rajakumari. He then kills Guman in a sword fight and releases the real King from prison. [4]
The film was dubbed into Tamil under the title Kaadhal Parisu and was released in 1955. Ku. Ma. Balasubramaniam wrote the dialogues and lyrics. [5] (Note: Not to be confused with Kadhal Parisu that featured Kamal Haasan and released in 1987.)
Music was composed by Hemant Kumar [1] and the lyrics were penned by Rajendra Krishan. Playback singers are Lata Mangeshkar, Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi and C. Ramchandra. [4] The Tamil dubbed version marked his debut in that language. [6]

Nadodi Mannan is a 1958 Indian Tamil-language action adventure film directed by M. G. Ramachandran in his debut as a filmmaker. He stars in dual roles alongside P. Bhanumathi, M. N. Rajam and B. Saroja Devi. P. S. Veerappa, M. N. Nambiar, M. G. Chakrapani, T. K. Balachandran and Chandrababu play supporting roles. The film revolves around a king being replaced by a look-alike after getting abducted on the eve of his coronation. The look-alike begins to implement social and economic reforms to uplift the poor which irks the kingdom's high priest, who has kidnapped the very person the look-alike resembles. The rest of the film shows how the look-alike saves the man he impersonates and defeats the high priest.
M. G. Ramachandran, popularly known by his initials "MGR", was an Indian actor, film director and film producer who had an extensive career primarily in Tamil language films. After starring in numerous commercially successful films from the 1950s to the early 1970s, he has continued to hold a matinée idol status in Tamil Nadu. Ramachandran made his debut in Ellis R. Dungan's 1936 film Sathi Leelavathi, where he played a police inspector. He followed it with a string of minor appearances and supporting roles in many films, notably Ashok Kumar (1941), where he played the general of emperor Ashoka's army, and as a captain in Dungan's Meera (1945).
Manohara is a 1954 Indian Tamil-language historical fantasy film directed by L. V. Prasad and written by M. Karunanidhi. Starring Sivaji Ganesan, T. R. Rajakumari, P. Kannamba and Girija, the film was based on the play of the same name by Pammal Sambandha Mudaliar. It was released on 3 March 1954. The film was simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi under the same title. Those versions were released on 3 June 1954.
