The politics of Kenya take place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic,whereby the President of Kenya is both head of state and head of government,and of a multi-party system in accordance with a new constitution passed in 2010.
The Kenya African National Union (KANU) is a Kenyan political party that ruled for nearly 40 years after Kenya's independence from British colonial rule in 1963 until its electoral loss in 2002. It was known as Kenya African Union (KAU) from 1944 but due to pressure from the colonial government,KAU changed its name to Kenya African Study Union (KASU) mainly because all political parties were banned in 1939 following the start is the Second World War. In 1946 KASU rebranded itself into KAU following the resignation of Harry Thuku as president due to internal differences between the moderates who wanted peaceful negotiations and the militants who wanted to use force,the latter forming the Aanake a forty,which later became the Mau Mau. His post was then occupied by James Gichuru,who stepped down for Jomo Kenyatta in 1947 as president of KAU. The KAU was banned by the colonial government from 1952 to 1960. It was re-established by James Gichuru in 1960 and renamed KANU on 14 May 1960 after a merger with Tom Mboya's Kenya Independence Movement.
Hon Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is a Kenyan politician who was the tenth Vice-President of Kenya from 2008 to 2013. Musyoka served in the government under the late President Daniel arap Moi and was Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1993 until 1998;subsequently,under the late President Mwai Kibaki,he was Minister of Foreign Affairs again from 2003 to 2004,then Minister of the Environment from 2004 to 2005. He was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2007 presidential election,after which he was appointed Vice-President by Kibaki in January 2008.

He belongs to the Orange Democratic Movement –Kenya and was elected to represent the Kitui South Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya from 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election to 2013. It is his second stint as an MP,previously he won the constituency seat in 1992,then representing the KANU party
David Musila is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Wiper Democratic Movement and was elected to represent Mwingi South Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the Kenyan parliamentary election of 1997. He is currently a senator representing Kitui County. Musila was a DO,DC and deputy PC between 1966 and 1979. In 1979,he was Moi's choice as PC for the troubled Central Province,a post which he retained until 1985,after which he became Director of Tourism. He retired from the civil service in 1988. He was elected as a KANU MP in 1997 and has remained in the house ever since,moving to the LDP wing of NARC in 2002,and was Deputy-Speaker in the 2003 Parliament. He was a KANU official in the 1990s and later became Deputy Chairman and then Chairman of the Liberal Democratic party (LDP).
Japhet Kareke Mbiuki is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Kenya African National Union and was elected to represent the Nithi Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election. In his first term In parliament he served as an assistant minister in the ministry of livestock and agriculture. He's credited as the brains behind the introduction of free fertiliser and seedlings to farmers. Between 2012 and 2017 he was reelected back to parliament under The National Alliance party. In the 2017 general election he was overwhelming reelected back to parliament under the Jubilee party and currently serving as chair of parliamentary Committee on National environment.
Naomi Namsi Shaban is a Kenyan politician from the border town of Taveta. Born of pare descent she became the first woman elected to represent the Taveta Constituency in Parliament in 2002 through a Kenya African National Union (KANU) ticket. She defended the seat in 2007 election through KANU and won. Later she joined the National Alliance Party (TNA) and was re-elected to represent Taveta Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in 2013. In 2017 she was re-elected again for a record fourth term in a highly controversial way as his main opponent Morris Mutiso cried foul play and sought for the results to be annuled on grounds of irregularities and illegalities.
