Samuel Teresi (born 1960) is an American politician. He was the 24th Mayor of the City of Jamestown,New York,serving from 2000 to 2020. [1] [2] Running for the Democratic Party,he defeated incumbent Republican mayor Richard Kimball Jr. to become mayor of Jamestown in 2000. [3] Teresi earned a BA in Political Science,from State University of New York,Buffalo in 1982 and an MA in Public Affairs/Administration from State University of New York,Albany in 1984. [4]
On February 4,2019,he announced that he would not seek re-election. [5] He was succeeded by Eddie Sundquist.

The Jamestown Jammers were a minor league baseball team based in Jamestown,New York from 1994 until 2014. The team was the Short-Season A classification affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates and played in the New York–Penn League. The team played all of their home games at Russell Diethrick Park.

Byron William Brown II is an American politician who served as the 62nd mayor of Buffalo,New York from 2006 until his resignation in 2024. He was the city's first African-American mayor and longest-serving mayor of Buffalo. He previously served Western New York as a member of the New York State Senate and Buffalo Common Council. He is the first African-American politician elected to the New York State Senate to represent a district outside New York City and the first member of any minority race to represent a majority-white New York State Senate district. He announced in a September press conference that he would resign as mayor of Buffalo sometime in October. Brown's resignation took effect on October 15,2024,with Christopher Scanlon serving as acting mayor until the next mayoral election in 2025.

In the general election,Brown went on to defeat Republican challenger Kevin Helfer,former member of the Buffalo Common Council for the University District,as well as two minor-party candidates. Buffalo's 2005 mayoral election is notable as the first in the city to be won by an African-American candidate.
The 2018 New York Attorney General election took place on November 6,2018. New York City Public Advocate Letitia James,a Democrat,was elected. James is the first woman and the first African-American to be elected New York Attorney General.
The 2021 Buffalo mayoral election was held on November 2,2021. Democratic Mayor Byron Brown won his fifth term in office as a write-in candidate. Brown's victory marked the first time since 1985 that Buffalo did not elect the Democratic nominee for mayor.
The 2022 New York Attorney General election was held on November 8,2022. Incumbent Democratic Attorney General Letitia James was eligible for re-election,but originally decided to run for Governor of New York in 2022. On December 9,2021,however,she suspended her gubernatorial campaign and announced that she would seek re-election as attorney general. Republicans nominated Michael Henry,an attorney from Queens. James defeated Henry by a margin of 9.2%,from her 27.2% victory in 2018.
