Montgomery County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 455,746. A 2019 estimate places the population at 607,391. The county seat is Conroe. The county was created by an act of the Congress of the Republic of Texas on December 14, 1837 and is named for the town of Montgomery. Between 2000 and 2010, its population grew by 55%, the 24th-fastest rate of growth of any county in the United States.

Lake Conroe is a 21,000-acre (85 km2) lake in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. Even though it is named Lake Conroe, only a small portion of the lake is in Conroe, Texas. Most of the lake is in unincorporated Montgomery County. The lake lies on the West Fork of the San Jacinto River, just west of Interstate 45 off State Highway 105 in Montgomery and Walker counties. Lake Conroe is a popular attraction for boating, jet-skiing, and fishing.
The San Jacinto River flows through southeast Texas. It is named after Saint Hyacinth. In the past, it was home to the Karankawa and Akokisa tribes.
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a regional wholesaler and the largest supplier of treated water in the United States. The name is usually shortened to "Met," "Metropolitan," or "MWD." It is a cooperative of fourteen cities, eleven municipal water districts, and one county water authority, that provides water to 19 million people in a 5,200-square-mile (13,000 km2) service area. It was created by an act of the California Legislature in 1928, primarily to build and operate the Colorado River Aqueduct. Metropolitan became the first contractor to the State Water Project in 1960.
Conroe Independent School District (CISD) is a school district in Montgomery County, Texas, which serves the cities of Conroe, Cut and Shoot, Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah, and the town of Woodloch. It also serves unincorporated communities, including almost all of The Woodlands, the settlement of Tamina, the community of River Plantation, and a portion of the Porter Heights CDP. The district's headquarters are located in the Deane L. Sadler Administration/Technology Center in Conroe. The CISD area, which covers 348 square miles (900 km2), is part of the Lone Star College System.
The Edwards Aquifer is one of the most prolific artesian aquifers in the world. Located on the eastern edge of the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas, it is the source of drinking water for two million people, and is the primary water supply for agriculture and industry in the aquifer's region. River Plantation is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Texas. It is located along the banks of the San Jacinto River, 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Conroe. As of 2007 it has 1,200 houses and about 3,000 residents. According to the 2015 American Community Survey, the median household income for residents living in River Plantation and the surrounding area was $84,583.
