San Saba is a city located in Central Texas and the county seat of San Saba County. It was settled in 1854 and named for its location on the San Saba River. The population was 3,099 at the 2010 census.

Bend is an unincorporated community in Lampasas and San Saba Counties in Western Central Texas. The population was 1,678 as of the 2010 census. It is located on Farm to Market Road 580 on the western leg of a horseshoe-shaped bend in the Colorado River. The Lampasas County portion of Bend is part of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The district's mascot is the Armadillo.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. [1]

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is a branch of the state government of Texas in the United States responsible for public education. The agency is headquartered in the William B. Travis State Office Building in downtown Austin. Mike Morath, formerly a member of the Dallas Independent School District's board of trustees, was appointed commissioner of education by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Dec. 14, 2015, and began serving on Jan. 4, 2016.
