Sankranti Bazar is a village development committee in the Himalayas of Terhathum District in the Kosi Zone of eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 3266 people living in 622 individual households. [1] Once a thriving market town, by 2001 the village had declined because road construction had bypassed them and because of Maoist activity. [2] [3]
A Village Development Committee (VDC) in Nepal was the lower administrative part of its Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development. Each district had several VDCs, similar to municipalities but with greater public-government interaction and administration. There were 3,157 village development committees in Nepal. Each VDC was further divided into several wards depending on the population of the district; the average being nine wards.

It is bordered with IWa, Sakranti, Nighuradin (Taplejung) and Amarpur (Panchthar). The Tamor river lies to the east Hwaku making it an area suitable for cultivation.
