The Santa Ana Winds Youth Band was a community youth marching band in Orange County, California. The band's name was derived from the Santa Ana winds weather pattern, [1] and is a reference to the fact that the many performers use wind instruments.
The band was started in 1971 by Robert Ward (d. May 31, 2008 [2] ) and quickly grew to become a staple group in parades across Southern California. [3]
On October 20, 1971, the Board of Managers of the Santa Ana/Tustin Y.M.C.A. approved the band as an affiliate club. The Winds were appointed as the "Official Ambassadors of Music for Orange County" by the Board of Supervisors of Orange County, and still hold that distinguished title.[ citation needed ]
The 2007-2008 season was the 37th season of The Santa Ana Winds Youth Band, and was under the direction of Greg Rochford. The 2010-2011 season was under the direction of Anna Sintora and Abel Acosta as Co-Band Directors.
The Santa Ana Winds have performed in hundreds of events over their 35 years serving the community. They have performed in parades, field shows, and concerts throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. [3]
The band has marched in the Hollywood Christmas Parade for over thirty-two years. They have appeared in such films as Coneheads, First Daughter, a Sprung Monkey video, S.F.W., Witch Hunt (1994 film), and an episode of Boston Public, among other events.[ citation needed ]
The group was a two-time national field show champion.[ citation needed ] They recorded a record in London during one of their European tours.[ citation needed ]
No audition was required, and membership was open to any youth ages 14–21. The band accepted all wind instruments, percussion, flag spinners, baton twirlers, drum majors, and banner carriers. Members come from Orange County, Los Angeles County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and some from Imperial County, San Diego County and Ventura County.

In 2010 the school's academic and arts programs were ranked with silver medal status in the U.S. News & World Report "Best High Schools" list. In 2012 the school changed its name from Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA) to "Orange County School of the Arts".
The University of California Marching Band, usually shortened to Cal Band, is the marching band for the University of California, Berkeley. While it is administered under the auspices of the university, the Cal Band is student-run and represents Cal at sporting events and social gatherings. The name of the band is "The University of California Band" by the constitution, but is typically called "The University of California Marching Band" or "The Cal Band". When the band marches out of Memorial Stadium's North Tunnel for football pre-games, it is referred to as "The Pacesetter of College Marching Bands, the Pride of California".
Tesoro High School is a public high school in southern Orange County area of Las Flores, California, United States. Established in the fall of 2001, Tesoro is 1 of 6 regular high schools in the Capistrano Unified School District. As of the 2014–2015 year, Tesoro serves nearly 2500 students in grades 9–12. Students attending Tesoro are within the cities of Rancho Santa Margarita, Las Flores, Ladera Ranch, Coto de Caza and Mission Viejo.

The Western Mustang Band (WMB) is the marching band for the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. The band performs at every home football game for the Western Mustangs at TD Stadium in the fall term as well as other athletic events such as basketball and volleyball games throughout the year. Its nickname is "The Pride of Western".

Orange station, formally the Orange Transportation Center is an intermodal transit station in Orange, California. It serves Metrolink trains as well as Orange County Transportation Authority buses. The station is located at the site of two former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway combination depots. The present depot structure was dedicated on May 1, 1938 and was closed with the Santa Fe's discontinuation of passenger service in 1971. The building was granted historic landmark status by the City on November 15, 1990.

Santa Ana Winds FC, also known as Winds FC, is a soccer team founded in Santa Ana, California, and a founding United Premier Soccer League club currently playing at the Lake Forest Sports Park, with occasional matches played at Championship Stadium at the Orange County Great Park. The club takes its name from a Southern California weather condition known as the Santa Ana winds. Santa Ana Winds FC, an elite amateur and professional development club, has played international development squads in the past, namely matches against a Club Atlas U-20 squad in March 2011, and a Chivas de Guadalajara U-20 squad in November 2011. On November 18, 2017, the club made history by qualifying to the 2018 U.S. Open Cup for the first time. On Tuesday, June 5, 2018, Winds FC winger Juan Arellano became the first player to transfer directly from Santa Ana Winds FC to an international professional club.
Santa Ana Stadium, also known as Eddie West Field or the Santa Ana Bowl, is a city-owned and operated 9,000-capacity American football and soccer stadium located in downtown Santa Ana. The field was named after Eddie West, a writer for the Orange County Register and tireless supporter of the Santa Ana College Dons and all Orange County sports.
