The National Democratic Alliance is an Indian big tent multi-party political alliance, led by the country's biggest political party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It was founded on 15 May 1998 and currently controls the government of India as well as the government of 19 Indian states and one Union territory.
Narayan Tatu Rane is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg. He was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Although India is a parliamentary democracy, the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism, possibly due to the absence of party organizations, independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party, or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national, state, regional, and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers, and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also has several dynastic leaders. In addition to the major national parties, other national and regional parties such as Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Shiromani Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal Secular, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Kerala Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Indian Union Muslim League, AIMIM, and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families, mostly those of the party founders.
Bhokardan is a metropolis in the Indian state of Maharashtra and is one the oldest cities in India. Bhokardan was a part of the Hyderabad State until it joined India in 1948 as part of the Annexation of Hyderabad. In 1960, it became a part of the newly formed state of Maharashtra from the bilingual Bombay state. The ruins of the old fortifications are still visible around the city; the area of the old fort now houses tehsil offices. Bhokardan has been identified by modern historians as the capital of an ancient district raja Bhogavardhan.
Raosaheb Dadarao Danve is an Indian politician and former Member of Parliament from Jalna, Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Mines in Second Modi ministry. He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party and was elected to Lok Sabha from Jalna constituency for five straight terms beginning in 1999 until 2024. He previously served as Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution from 30 May 2019 to 7 July 2021 and also served as the Maharashtra state President of BJP.
Eknath Khadse is a politician and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra state. He was a Member of Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra from Muktainagar constituency for six consecutive terms till 2019. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 1987 until his resignation in October 2020. He is a member of Legislative Council of Maharashtra.
Sunil Panjabrao Deshmukh is the Member of Legislative Assembly from the constituency of Amravati, Maharashtra, India. He is a member of Indian National Congress (INC). He is a former Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Public Works and Energy in Government of Maharashtra and was also the guardian minister for Amravati and Bhandara districts of Vidarbha, Maharashtra from 2004–2009. He has also served as the ex-officio Vice-Chairman of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board's holding company and was the co-chairman of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd.
Ashok Shankarrao Chavan is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He is the son of the late former Maharashtra Chief Minister Shankarrao Chavan. He was one of the most influential leaders of Indian National Congress in Maharashtra but joined Bhartiya Janata Party on 13 February 2024. He has served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra state from 8 December 2008 to 9 November 2010. Also, he has served as Minister for Cultural Affairs, Industries, Mines and Protocol in the Vilasrao Deshmukh government and he is also the former PWD Minister of Maharashtra.

Power is devolved to large city councils, district councils, subdistrict (taluka) councils, and village parish councils. The numerically strong Maratha–Kunbi community dominates the state's politics. The state has national and regional parties serving different demographics, such as those based on religion, caste, and urban and rural residents.
Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis is an Indian politician who is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra since 5 December 2024, and previously held this position for two terms from 2014 to 2019. He previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, alongside Ajit Pawar in the Eknath Shinde government. Besides this, from 2019 to 2022, he served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He was the President of BJP's Maharashtra state unit from 2013 to 2015. He became Chief Minister at the age of 44, making him the second-youngest in Maharashtra's history after Sharad Pawar.
Although a parliamentary democracy, Indian politics has increasingly become dynastic, possibly due to the absence of a party organization, independent civil society associations that mobilize support for the party, and centralized financing of elections. Family members have also led the Congress party for most of the period since 1978 when Indira Gandhi floated the then Congress(I) faction of the party. It also is fairly common in many political parties in Maharashtra. The dynastic phenomenon is seen from national level down to district level and even village level.The three-tier structure of Panchayati Raj established in the 1960s also helped to create and consolidate the dynastic phenomenon in rural areas. Apart from government, political families also control cooperative institutions, mainly cooperative sugar factories, district cooperative banks in the state, and since the 1980s private for profit colleges. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also features several senior leaders who are dynasts. In Maharashtra, the NCP has particularly high level of dynasticism.
Eknath Sambhaji Shinde is an Indian politician who is serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra since December 2024 alongside Ajit Pawar. He is the chairperson of Shiv Sena since February 2023 and was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from June 2022 to December 2024. He is also the Member of Legislative Assembly for the Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency of Thane, Maharashtra, since 2009 and was formerly the MLA of Thane constituency from 2004 to 2009.
Dr. Ashish Ranjeet Deshmukh is the member of the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is representing the Savner Assembly Constituency. He rejoined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2023. Deshmukh is the son of former president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee and former Maharashtra minister Ranjeet Deshmukh. In December 2013, Deshmukh had undertaken an indefinite fast to press for formation of a separate Vidarbha state.
Harshvardhan Jadhav is an Indian politician who formerly represented Kannad in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He has been a member of Shiv Sena, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Shiv Swarajya Paksha at various times in his political career and later joined in Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Abdul Sattar Abdul Nabi is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He was briefly a minister in 2014 in the Congress government in Maharashtra. In 2019 he left Congress and joined Shiv Sena. He is a three term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Sillod constituency. He served as the state's Cabinet Minister for Animal Husbandry.
