Sapan Saran is a poet, writer, and an actor based in Mumbai. She is the founding member of the theatre company, "Tamaasha", which aims to explore new theatre ideas in alternative spaces.
Her association with theatre began with a collaboration with dancer Astad Deboo. She has written the plays, Club Desire [1] and Classics Redux, [2] which have been directed by veteran theatre director Sunil Shanbag, with whom she also co-directed the play, Marriage-ology. [3] [4] [5] Her first play- Club Desire, a Theatre Arpana and National Centre for the Performing Arts (India) production, was selected for National School of Drama's International Theatre Festival, Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2015. [6] "The Churchgate Couple", a short 10-minute piece from Marriage-ology, written by her, garnered appreciation by critics and audiences alike. She performs plays regularly, and has modelled in several advertisements and acted in films. Her poems have been published in several magazines, including Sahitya Akademi's Samkaaleen Bhaarteeya Sahitya. Her first book of poems is due for publication.
Her film-work includes Sun TV's Kanden Kadhalai and Gautham Vasudev Menon's Telugu film Ye Maaya Chesave , with Naga Chaitanya.

National School of Drama (NSD) is a theatre training institute situated at New Delhi, India. It is an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was set up in 1959 by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and became an independent school in 1975. In 2005, it was granted deemed university status, but in 2011 it was revoked. Paresh Rawal is the current Chairperson & Chittaranjan Tripathy currently serves as Director of National School of Drama (NSD).
The Phoenician Women is a tragedy by Euripides, based on the same story as Aeschylus' play Seven Against Thebes. It was presented along with the tragedies Hypsipyle and Antiope. With this trilogy, Euripides won the second prize. The title refers to the Greek chorus, which is composed of Phoenician women on their way to Delphi who are trapped in Thebes by the war. Unlike some of Euripides' other plays, the chorus does not play a significant role in the plot, but represents the innocent and neutral people who very often are found in the middle of war situations. Patriotism is a significant theme in the story, as Polynices talks a great deal about his love for the city of Thebes but has brought an army to destroy it; Creon is also forced to make a choice between saving the city and saving the life of his son.
Ratan Thiyam is an Indian playwright and theatre director, and the winner of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1987, one of leading figures of the "theatre of roots" movement in Indian theatre, which started in the 1970s. Also known as Thiyam Nemai, Ratan Thiyam is known for writing and staging plays that use ancient Indian theatre traditions and forms in a contemporary context. A former painter, and proficient in direction, design, script and music, Thiyam is often considered one of leading contemporary theatre gurus.

The festival was started to showcase works of Indian theatre practitioners, and it has grown over the years to attract international performers as well. Lairembigee Eshei, also known as Song of the Nymphs, is a Meitei language play, written and directed by Ratan Thiyam, performed by the "Chorus Repertoire Theatre" of Imphal.
