Sarah Lowndes is a writer and curator based in Norwich. Lowndes is Director of Kunsthalle Cromer and previously contributed to the Public Programme of the Sainsbury Centre at the University of East Anglia. Lowndes's research focusses upon artist-led projects, interdisciplinary and performance-related practice and contemporary art. A lecturer at Glasgow School of Art between 2002 and 2015, Lowndes has written extensively on post-war art, music and politics in Glasgow in publications including Studio 58: Women Artists in Glasgow Since World War II (Glasgow: Glasgow School of Art Exhibitions, 2012), Social Sculpture: The Rise of the Glasgow Art Scene (Luath Press, 2010) and "The Glasgow Scene", The History of British Art, Volume III (London: Tate Publishing, 2008). Other single author books authored by Lowndes include All Art is Political: Writings on Performative Art (2014), The DIY Movement in Art, Music and Publishing: Subjugated Knowledges (2016), Contemporary Artists Working Outside the City: Creative Retreat (2018) and Crowds, Community and Contagion in Contemporary Britain (2022). Lowndes co-edited Actions: The Image of the World Can Be Different, with Andrew Nairne (2018) and edited Like the Sea I Think: New Marine Writing from East Anglia (2019) and Field Work: New Nature Writing from East Anglia (2020).
Lowndes has contributed to Frieze, Art on Paper, Untitled, MAP, 2HB, Spike Art Quarterly and Afterall and to catalogues for international institutions, including Richard Wright (2009), Robert Rauschenberg: Botanical Vaudeville (2011) and Dieter Roth: Diaries (2012).[ citation needed ] Her curatorial projects include "Three Blows", a weekend of experimental acoustic performance by visual artists and musicians (2008), [1] the symposium Subject in Process: Feminism and Art (2009) the international group exhibition Votive at CCA Glasgow (2009) and the all-women performance event Urlibido (Glasgow International 2010). Her curatorial projects include the sculpture park "Dialogue of Hands" (Glasgow International, 2012) and Studio 58: Women Artists in Glasgow Since WWII (Mackintosh Museum, 2012) and she was also the editor of art magazine The Burning Sand (2013–2016). The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) is a contemporary art museum with two locations in greater Los Angeles, California. The main branch is located on Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles, near the Walt Disney Concert Hall. MOCA's original space, initially intended as a temporary exhibit space while the main facility was built, is now known as the Geffen Contemporary and located in the Little Tokyo district of downtown Los Angeles. Between 2000 and 2019, it operated a satellite facility at the Pacific Design Center facility in West Hollywood.
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago is a contemporary art museum near Water Tower Place in the Near North Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The museum, which was established in 1967, is one of the world's largest contemporary art venues. The museum's collection is composed of thousands of objects of Post-World War II visual art. The museum is run gallery-style, with individually curated exhibitions throughout the year. Each exhibition may be composed of temporary loans, pieces from their permanent collection, or a combination of the two.
The Australian Centre For Contemporary Art (ACCA) is a contemporary art gallery in Melbourne, Australia. The gallery is located on Sturt Street in the Melbourne Arts Precinct, in the inner suburb of Southbank. Designed by Wood Marsh Architects, the building was completed in 2002, and includes facilities for Chunky Move dance company and the Malthouse Theatre.

Michelle Grabner is an artist, curator, and critic based in Wisconsin. She is the Crown Family Professor of Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she has taught since 1996. She has curated several important exhibitions, including the 2014 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art along with Anthony Elms and Stuart Comer, and FRONT International, the 2016 Portland Biennial at the Oregon Contemporary, a triennial exhibition in Cleveland, Ohio in 2018. In 2014, Grabner was named one of the 100 most powerful women in art and in 2019, she was named a 2019 National Academy of Design's Academician, a lifetime honor. In 2021, Grabner was named a Guggenheim Fellow by The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. In 2024 Grabner was inducted into the Wisconsin Academy of Art and Science.
The Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the campus of the University of British Columbia. The gallery is housed in a building designed by architect Peter Cardew which opened in 1995. Cardew received a RAIC gold medal for the building's design in 2012. It houses UBC's growing collection of contemporary art as well as archives containing objects and records related to the history of art in Vancouver.
Richard Wright is an English artist. Wright was born in London. His family moved to Scotland when he was young. He attended Edinburgh College of Art from 1978 to 1982 and studied at Glasgow School of Art between 1993 and 1995 studying for a Master of Fine Art. He lives in Glasgow. and Norfolk.
Cornelia H. Butler is an American museum curator, author, and art historian. Since 2023, Butler is the Director of MoMA PS1. From 2013 to 2023, she was the Chief Curator at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
Patricia Cronin is a New York-based feminist cross-disciplinary artist. Since the early-1990s, Cronin has garnered international attention for her photographs, paintings and sculptures that address contemporary human rights issues. Cronin's conceptual artistic practice transits across many aesthetic platforms addressing social justice issues of gender, sexuality and class, including: lesbian visibility, feminist art history, marriage equality and international rights of women and LGBTQ+ people. She subverts traditional art images and forms in a wide range of two and three-dimensional time-honored artists' materials and breathes new life into these images and forms by injecting her specific political content. Her critically acclaimed statue, "Memorial To A Marriage", is the first and only Marriage Equality monument in the world. A 3-ton Carrara marble mortuary sculpture of her life partner and herself was made before gay marriage was legal in the U.S., and has been exhibited widely across the country and abroad. Cronin began her career working for the Anne Frank Stichting (Foundation)Archived 2015-10-25 at the Wayback Machine in Amsterdam installing the traveling exhibition "Anne Frank in the World" in Europe and the U.S. Giving presence to female absence is a consistent thread that runs through and connects each body of work.
Daphne Wright is an Irish visual artist, who makes sculptural installations using a variety of techniques and media to explore how a range of languages and materials can be used to probe unspoken human preoccupations. Recent international exhibition highlights include Hotspot, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome, curated by Gerardo Mosquera; Daphne Wright: Prayer Project, Davis Museum, USA, Portals; the Hellenic Parliament with ΝΕΟΝ, Athens; Infinite Sculpture, Gulbenkian Museum, Lisbon. Wright curated the 2018 exhibition The Ethics of Scrutiny at the Irish Museum of Modern Art as part of the Freud Project. Wright has received the Paul Hamlyn Award, The Henry Moore Foundation Fellowship, and The British School of Rome fellowship. She is a member of Aosdana and is represented by Frith Street Gallery, London.
Xiao Ge, an artist and curator, was born in an art family of Shanghai in 1971. She graduated from Middle School Affiliated to China Academy of Art and then the Printmaking Department of China Central Academy of Fine Arts. In late 1995, Xiao went to France and successively studied in Universite De Provence Aix-Marseille, Oil Painting and Inter Media Art Department of école nationale supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris, Ecole De La Chambre Syndicale De La Couture Parisienne and International Cultural Exchange Department of Université de Vincennes à Saint-Denis, where she received double bachelor's degrees and double master's degrees. Xiao returned to China in 2009 and now she lives and works in Beijing and Paris.
Graham Fagen is a Scottish artist living and working in Glasgow, Scotland. He has exhibited internationally at the Busan BiennaleArchived 10 September 2013 at the Wayback Machine, South Korea (2004), the Art and Industry Biennial, New Zealand (2004), the Venice Biennale (2003) and represented Scotland at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015 in a presentation curated and organised by Hospitalfield. In Britain he has exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Tate Britain and the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. In 1999 he was invited by the Imperial War Museum, London to work as the Official War Artist for Kosovo.
Joyce J. Scott is an African-American artist, sculptor, quilter, performance artist, installation artist, print-maker, lecturer and educator. Named a MacArthur Fellow in 2016, and a Smithsonian Visionary Artist in 2019, Scott is best known for her figurative sculptures and jewelry using free form, off-loom beadweaving techniques, similar to a peyote stitch. Each piece is often constructed using thousands of glass seed beads or pony beads, and sometimes other found objects or materials such as glass, quilting and leather. In 2018, she was hailed for working in new medium — a mixture of soil, clay, straw, and cement — for a sculpture meant to disintegrate and return to the earth. Scott is influenced by a variety of diverse cultures, including Native American and African traditions, Mexican, Czech, and Russian beadwork, illustration and comic books, and pop culture.
The Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative was a five-year program, supported by Swiss bank UBS in which the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation identified and works with artists, curators and educators from South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa to expand its reach in the international art world. For each of the three phases of the project, the museum invited one curator from the chosen region to the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum in New York City for a two-year curatorial residency, where they worked with a team of Guggenheim staff to identify new artworks that reflect the range of talents in their parts of the world. The resident curators organized international touring exhibitions that highlight these artworks and help organize educational activities. The Foundation acquired these artworks for its permanent collection and included them as the focus of exhibitions that open at the museum in New York and subsequently traveled to two other cultural institutions or other venues around the world. The Foundation supplemented the exhibitions with a series of public and online programs, and supported cross-cultural exchange and collaboration between staff members of the institutions hosting the exhibitions. UBS reportedly contributied more than $40 million to the project to pay for its activities and the art acquisitions. Foundation director Richard Armstrong commented: "We are hoping to challenge our Western-centric view of art history."
Sunny A. Smith is an American artist who is based in Oakland, California. Smith's work draws from American history to create artworks which combine social practice, performance, and craft-based sculpture.
Kathy Rae Huffman is an American curator, writer, producer, researcher, lecturer and expert for video and media art. Since the early 1980s, Huffman is said to have helped establish video and new media art, online and interactive art, installation and performance art in the visual arts world. She has curated, written about, and coordinated events for numerous international art institutes, consulted and juried for festivals and alternative arts organisations. Huffman not only introduced video and digital computer art to museum exhibitions, she also pioneered tirelessly to bring television channels and video artists together, in order to show video artworks on TV. From the early 1990s until 2014, Huffman was based in Europe, and embraced early net art and interactive online environments, a curatorial practice that continues. In 1997, she co-founded the Faces mailing list and online community for women working with art, gender and technology. Till today, Huffman is working in the US, in Canada and in Europe.
Antonia Wright is a Cuban-American artist born in Miami, Florida. Through a multidisciplinary practice of video, performance, installation, sculpture, sound, and light, Wright responds to extremes of emotion, control, and violence as they relate to systems of power in society. Alpesh Kantilal Patel of Artforum wrote of her work, “the body is the true medium she explores.”

The Feminist Art Coalition (FAC) is a collaboration of over 100 art museums and nonprofit institutions from across the United States. The organizations are collectively creating a series of programming and exhibitions centered around feminist thought to be held beginning in the fall of 2020, during the run-up of the presidential election. The project was initially planned to occur from September through November 2020, but has been extended through the end of 2021 due to changes in exhibition schedules resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
