Sarwanam Theatre Group

Sarwanam Theatre Group is a non-profit Nepalese theatre group co-founded by Ashesh Malla. [1] Organized to perform street theater, Sarwanam performs plays which focus on social issues in Nepal. [2] [3]

The group has developed the Sarwanam Art Centre in Putali Sadak, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu, which houses a theatre auditorium, cafeteria, art gallery, workshop hall and research centre. It does not bear any governmental or non governmental funding. The building's construction was funded through the presentation of theatrical performances. The concept of Sarwanam Theater Building came from Ashesh Malla, the founder of Sarwanam Theater.

Sarwanam has given performances in collaboration with The Asia Foundation, UNMIN, UNFPA, and Save the Children.

These spaces can be anywhere, including shopping centres, car parks, recreational reserves, college or university campus and street corners. They are especially seen in outdoor spaces where there are large numbers of people. The actors who perform street theatre range from buskers to organised theatre companies or groups that want to experiment with performance spaces, or to promote their mainstream work. It was a source of providing information to people when there were no sources of providing information like television, radio etc. Nowadays, street play is used to convey a message to the crowd watching it. Street play is considered to be the rawest form of acting, because one does not have a microphone or loud speakers.

The landmark Goodspeed Opera House is a distinctive feature of the view from the Connecticut River and is the birthplace of some of the world's most famous musicals, including Annie, Man of La Mancha, and Shenandoah. Goodspeed Musicals also includes a smaller theater in Chester CT as well as several writing and performing seminars. Goodspeed Musicals is considered one of the foremost regional theaters in the United States to date producing 250 musicals, over 70 world premieres, and sending 21 productions to Broadway. The Asian American Arts Centre (AAAC) is a non-profit organization located in the Chinatown neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Founded in 1974, it's one of the earliest Asian American community organizations in the United States. The Arts Centre presents the ongoing developments between contemporary Asian & Asian American art forms and Western art forms through the presentation of performance, exhibitions, and public education. AAAC's permanent collection, which it has accumulated since 1989, contains hundreds of contemporary Asian American art works and traditional/folk art pieces. The Emery Theatre, or Emery Auditorium, is a historic, acoustically exceptional theater located in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. The building was constructed in 1911 as the home for a trade school, but its large auditorium was intended for public use. The design of the Emery Theatre is based on the "isacoustic curve" principles that were first proposed by John Scott Russell. The theatre was built with two balconies and a total of 2,211 seats. It was one of the first concert halls in the United States to have no obstructed seats.

She serves as the board director and creative director of Sarwanam Theatre Group, the leading theatre group of Nepal. She is the co- founder of 360 Degree Mountain Films, a production house that she founded along with Ashok Yadav that focuses in producing international short films and feature films in Nepal. She is the recipient of "Travel Writer of the Year" and "VOW College Women Award",. She was featured as one of Nepal's eligible bachelorettes by enasha.com in 2008, a popular web magazine. She received her master's degree in journalism and mass communication from Punjab Technical University, India. She is an alumna of Asian Academy of Film and Television, India, with a master diploma in cinema.

Aarohan Theatre Group is a theatre group in Nepal. It produces shows incorporating various cultures, religions and rituals of Nepal. The group has produced 15 TV shows for Nepal Television and produced various radio dramas. One of the radio drama was 136 episodes long. The group has performed its plays in India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Norway, Denmark and United States. It has two theater halls in its Biratnagar premise.
