Sascha Georges (born 1975) is a Luxembourgish news presenter.

He already became known in the 1990s in Luxembourg as the vocalist of the metal band Pagan Lorn, [1] where he attracted attention as frontman with extravagant performances. [2] [3] [4]

After the group was disbanded at the end of the 1990s, Sascha Georges first worked at RTL Radio Lëtzebuerg  [ lb ] as a radio presenter, [5] and then moved to RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, where he now regularly presents the news. [6]

In the film The Butterfly's Symmetry  [ lb ] he has a small cameo role as a news speaker.

After finishing among the bottom seven countries in 1993, Luxembourg was relegated and prevented from competing in 1994. The nation declined to return to the contest in 1995, and would make no further appearances over the next three decades. The country returned to the event for the first time in 31 years in 2024.

Luxembourg participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 with the song "Sou fräi" written by Jang Linster and Ab van Goor. The song was performed by Marion Welter and the band Kontinent, which was internally selected by the Luxembourgish broadcaster RTL Hei Elei (RTL) in March 1992 to represent Luxembourg in Malmö, Sweden. RTL organised a national final in order to select Marion Welter and Kontinent's song and "Sou fräi" emerged as the winning song on 22 March 1992 following a public postcard vote.

Luxembourg was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song "Fighter", written by Ana Zimmer, Dario Faini, Manon Romiti, and Silvio Lisbonne, and performed by Tali. The Luxembourgish participating broadcaster, RTL Lëtzebuerg (RTL), organised the national final Luxembourg Song Contest in order to select its entry for the contest. This was the return of Luxembourg to the contest after an absence of 31 years since its last participation in 1993.
