Sathya Panneerselvam also known as Sathya.P [1] is an Indian politician and a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Tamil Nadu. She was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in the 2016 elections as a candidate of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party, representing the Panruti constituency in Cuddalore district. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party with great influence in the state of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry. It is a Dravidian party founded by the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran (M.G.R.) at Madurai on 17 October 1972 as a breakaway faction from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after M. Karunanidhi expelled him from the party for demanding an account as the party treasurer. The party is adhering to the policies of socialism and secularism based on the principles of C. N. Annadurai (Anna) collectively coined as Annaism by M.G.R. The party has won a seven-time majority in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and has emerged as the most successful political outfit in the state's history. It is currently the main opposition party in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

Edappadi Karuppa Palaniswami, often referred to by his initials E.P.S., is an Indian politician who is the current leader of opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He served as the 7th chief minister of Tamil Nadu, from 2017 to 2021. He has been the General Secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) since 28 March 2023. Previously, Palaniswami has served as the interim general secretary (2022–23), joint co-ordinator (2017–22) and headquarters secretary (2016–22) of AIADMK.

He won his first two elections from R k Nagar constituency as an AIADMK candidate.
R. Kumaraguru is an Indian politician from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Ulundurpet constituency. He has been elected as a member of legislative assembly for the third consecutive time since 2006 assembly elections. He defeated the Vijayakanth, founder of DMDK party during 2016 assembly elections. He represents the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party. As an AIADMK candidate in the 2006 elections, he was elected as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Thirunavalur assembly constituency which was eliminated during the constituency reorganization. Later, 2011 to 2016 he contested the Ulundurpet assembly election for the second time in 2016 and won as a member of the assembly after 2016 to 2021. In this election, he defeated the leader of the opposition party, the leader of the DMDK Party of India, Vijayakanth and third time winner of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in Ulundurpet constituency. He later contested the Ulundurpet assembly constituency from 2021 to 2026 on behalf of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam against DMK and lost by a margin of 5,256 votes and 2.17%.
K. T. Rajenthra Bhalaji is a former minister and former member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elected from the Sivakasi constituency in 2011 and 2016. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party.
The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984, though with a simple majority. The DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly; notably, the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested, and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. The votes were counted on 19 May 2016. In the previous election in 2011, AIADMK, under the leadership of Jayalalithaa, won a thumping majority and formed the government, while DMDK chief Vijayakanth served as the Leader of Opposition until January 2016. This was the last election that J. Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi contested, as they both died later that year and 2018 respectively.
V. N. P. Venkatraman is an Indian politician and was a member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Alandur constituency. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party after defeating Panruti S. Ramachandran in a by-election in 2014. Ramachandran had resigned the seat in December 2013 at the same time that he resigned from the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam.

By-elections to eighteen state assembly constituencies were held in Tamil Nadu on 18 April 2019 together with 2019 Indian general election. It was considered to be mini-assembly election battle for the power in Tamil Nadu. The ruling government had to prove its majority while the opposition was trying hard to get maximum seats. There were 22 seats vacant in the Tamil Nadu assembly, By-election took place in two phases and in the first phase for 18 assembly constituencies together with Lok Sabha general election on 18 April 2019 in the state. Remaining 4 assembly constituencies election was held on 19 May. The counting of votes was conducted on 23 May, and on the same day the results were announced. Then the by-elections for 2 seats Vikravandi and Nanguneri were conducted on 21 October 2019
The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election, ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.

Sakkaiyan Thirumalai Kullapakavudar Jakkaiyan is an Indian politician who served in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, representing Cumbum as a member of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam from 2016 until 2021. In 2018, Jakkaiyan was one of 19 dissident AIADMK MLAs who faced expulsion from the assembly for opposing Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, though Jakkaiyan later renounced this position and was not expelled.
