Saturnus are a Danish death-doom band.
The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist Thomas A.G. Jensen and bassist Brian Hansen, as death metal band Asesino. The band changed their name to Saturnus in 1993, switching to their present sound of melodic death/doom with synthesized touches of gothic metal. Throughout the 90s, Saturnus had recorded and released several demos, an EP, and two albums, Paradise Belongs to You and Martyre. Saturnus released their third full-length album, Veronika Decides to Die , in May 2006. The album title was inspired by Paulo Coelho's novel of the same name. The band toured since the album's 2006 release into 2008 with bands such as Agalloch, Novembers Doom, Mar de Grises, and Thurisaz. [1]
On April 9, 2012, Saturnus posted on their Facebook page:
"Tomorrow we begin recording for the new album 'Saturn in Ascension', with 'Flemming Rasmussen' once again behind the mixer. We are looking forward to this [launching of the album 'Saturn in Ascension']. Bass and drums are the first things that will be recorded over the coming days, we will keep you posted on the development." [2]
On October 10, 2012, Saturnus announced on their Myspace page that the release date for Saturn in Ascension would be November 30, 2012, released via Cyclone Empire records. [3]
In 2020, two new guitarists have been hired and the band is willing to start working on a new album soon. In June 2020, vocalist T Jensen stated that the band was working on some unreleased songs and would be released later that year, however this did not happen due to unforeseen circumstances. In March 2023, it was eventually officially announced that their fifth studio album, titled The Storm Within, would be released on June 16, 2023, marking their longest ever gap between studio albums with it being their first new release in over a decade since 2012's Saturn in Ascension. Paradise Lost are an English gothic metal band that formed in 1988 in Halifax, considered to be among the pioneers of the death-doom genre, and regarded as the main influence for the later gothic metal movement. Bands that have cited Paradise Lost as an influence, or have covered them, include My Dying Bride, Anathema, The Gathering, Amorphis, Cradle of Filth, Katatonia, Moonspell, Lacuna Coil, HIM, Nightwish and many others. As of 2005, Paradise Lost have sold over two million albums worldwide.
Barathrum is a Finnish black-doom metal band, formed in 1990. The band's name is Latin for pit or abyss. The first letters of their eight full-length albums spell "HEIL SOVA" - referring to the band's frontman, Demonos Sova, who is the only original member of the band. Their music is stylistically similar to early black metal acts such as Venom and Celtic Frost. Their lyrics deal with occult and religious themes.

Iron Fire is a Danish power and speed metal band which was formed in 1995 under the name Misery. The name was soon changed to Decades of Darkness and finally to Iron Fire. They have released nine albums with their debut Thunderstorm coming out in 2000.
Tormentor is a Hungarian black metal band formed in 1986 in Budapest. They recorded their first album, Anno Domini, in 1988, but were unable to release it until the end of communist rule in Hungary. The album reached Norway through the tape-trading community. Following the suicide of Per Ohlin, Mayhem invited Attila Csihar from Tormentor to join the band; he was to perform the vocals on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. Tormentor split up in 1991. After a long break they reformed and released the more experimental Recipe Ferrum through Avantgarde Music in 2001, going on a long indefinite hiatus afterwards.
Simen Hestnæs, better known by his stage name ICS Vortex or simply Vortex, is a Norwegian musician. He is the vocalist of the similarly named band ICS Vortex, the avant-garde metal band Arcturus and the doom metal band Lamented Souls. He is also the vocalist and bass guitarist to the heavy metal band Borknagar, and the former bass guitarist and backing vocalist for the symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir.

Panzerchrist is a Danish blackened death metal band formed in 1993 by Michael Enevoldsen and celebrated Danish artist Lasse Hoile.
B.A.C.K. is the fourth studio album by Danish thrash metal band Artillery. It was released in 1999 via Die Hard Music, and is the band's first full-length studio album since By Inheritance, which came out nine years earlier. After the release of B.A.C.K., Artillery would break up again, but eventually reformed for a second time in 2007.
