Savannah Sellers (born August 26, 1991) is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist working at NBC News and MSNBC. She is the co-host of Morning News Now and Stay Tuned on NBC News Now and is also a correspondent on all NBC platforms. She covers a wide range of political and pop culture topics. Her reports are seen on Today, NBC Nightly News, MSNBC, and NBC News Now. [1]
Born in San Diego, California, she is the daughter of Ron and Patricia Sellers and sister to Rilee Sellers. Savannah attended Boulder High School in Colorado.[ citation needed ] After graduating from high school, she went on to attend the University of Colorado Boulder in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She then earned a degree in Broadcast News and International Media. [2]
Sellers began her career at NBC News in 2010, working behind the scenes as an assignment desk intern, reporting intern, production intern at MSNBC, and NBCUniversal's page program. She then worked as an executive assistant to the president of MSNBC. [3]
In 2016, Sellers was promoted to an on-air reporter for MSNBC in 2016. In 2017, Sellers became the host of NBC News' twice daily Snapchat show, 'Stay Tuned'. She continues to host to this day. [4]
In 2018, Sellers was promoted to a full-time correspondent position on various NBC News and MSNBC platforms.[ citation needed ]
She also conducted exclusive interviews with several students from Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School two weeks after its school shooting. [5] She also conducted interviews with numerous public celebrities and global artists like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Shawn Mendes, to politicians from Joe Biden to Hillary Clinton.[ citation needed ]
In 2020, NBC News selected Sellers and Joe Fryer as co-anchors of Morning News Now on its 24-hour streaming channel NBC News Now. [6]
Her work aims at a new generation of millennials and Gen Z people who view their news online and on TV in a fast-paced format. [7]
She was awarded the 2017 Annual News and Documentary Emmy awards for her work as a producer on the NBC Nightly News series: Hooked: America's Heroin Epidemic, and has been a beneficiary of the award since then. She also received a Gracie Award for online video host. She's also a co-host of the Global Citizen Festival, working closely with Red Nose Day, as part of NBCUniversal's partnerships with charity organizations.[ citation needed ]
Sellers married her husband, Alex Yaraghi (an investment analyst), in 2022 after dating for several years. [8]
